Yeah . The hair over the eye gives her a mysterious look . Stranges but the grainy effect adds to the picture and makes it feel more raw ! ...I like this lots
xavtek (Xavier Rotivel) said 3 years ago:
Thanks everyone for your inputs, mostly the thing i felt strange about was the left eye hidden behind hair.
But as manickavelu said, it adds to the mystery, so i guess it's ok.
jsmanseau added a critique 3 years ago:
I agree great composition and I like the "mystery" Great job.
xavtek (Xavier Rotivel) said 2 years ago:
no mystery here, she's playing on her computer ;)

George, your photo is certainly a reminder that instead of looking up all the time, we sometimes should look down.
you did and were rewarded with this wonderful photo that is dark and brooding with a sense of mystery and adventure.
Well done.

The simplicity of this picture is great, it gives me a Zen feeling.
xavtek (Xavier Rotivel) said 3 years ago:
it reminds me so much of a pic i shot on the wapizagonke lake...
i think i'm gonna post it soon.
The place looks so peacefull in your pic, great feeling thanks.

i agree with lbstone that the trees look confined. The color are interesting and i like the simplicity of the photo.

I actually like the hill in this image, but maybe the picture would fit better in a "Silhouette" theme...

Thanks to all for the comments! It's kinda funny how each of us see different things in each photo! Thanks again!

I may just don't get it, but i find difficult to follow the details on that pic.
Maybe a wider composition would have helped?
joka (Johannes Kapp) said 2 years ago:
@xavtec:
Could be a help for you to follow the details (which details?).
But it wouldn`t be my composition and my intention.
shiningpig added a critique 2 years ago:
Hey! This is the same as that pink/orange one.
:-) I like the other one better. This looks too dirty. The other looks chalky-- cleaner dust I guess.
joka (Johannes Kapp) said 2 years ago:
@shiningpig:
But this one is more authentic. A shot from a rubbish container, there was really dirt ...

Seems a little soft, but I like how the empty space adds to the mood. Good shot!
xavtek (Xavier Rotivel) added a critique 2 years ago:
Pose is good, but unfortunately, pic is slightly blurry (not a real issue though) and to "greyish" to me... Would benefit a bit of tweaking with contrast and curves i guess.
grayphotog added a critique 2 years ago:
Yes, it's soft and the mood isn't defined enough for me. Also, I personally would consider it a loss because of the wet spot on his mouth (or I'd fix it in Photoshop). I agree that it's a nice pose and composition. Love the dark space and tone.
ronjones (Ron Jones) added a critique 2 years ago:
The little bit of softness I think is pleasing. I like, also, the negative space on the left.

Truly rusty, very good shot. not to mention it looks like a car front light, but it's not and the whole scene is hard to figure out.... :)
DaM (Damien BOTTURA) added a critique 2 years ago:
The contrast between both colors is magnificent, the rust return this even stronger contrast. Congratulations.

At first i thought the pic was too noisy, but in fact the color of sunset in the water is interesting. The instant is well captured and the "lowkey" look fits very well.
Blumie (Sabine) added a critique 2 years ago:
Such a funny picture, even I do not know exactly, where the arms and legs really are. But I think this poor guy also does not know that. Yes, a bit noisy, but still very funny.
byutanner (Jason Tanner) said 2 years ago:
Thanks for the comments. Not much choice on the noise because I had to increase the brightness since due to the shutter speed the image was nearly all black (but the detail was luckily there:). But in the end I liked the noisy look. Thanks!
grayphotog added a critique 2 years ago:
Very gritty, and that's impressive considering it's over water. Fixing an exposure problem in Photoshop really doesn't work though. You needed to set the camera to a faster ISO (or use faster film). Nice shot though.
byutanner (Jason Tanner) said 2 years ago:
Thanks gray. This image was a throw away, but I played with it and I liked the noise. I did have a faster ISO, but to stop motion I had to use a faster shutter speed. This was after the sunset and there was little light from the moon. I didn't have a fast lens on at the time so this was the best I could do given that.
Oh and everyone who wanted to know, this guy would skim board into oncoming waves and flip as he hit the waves. Looked pretty cool. Go see him next time you're in Carmel:)

Great image. This also could fits very well in Perspective. Is really someone there in the background? Cool! I just think that the contrast could be soft and the ligth areas looks a bit solarized.
xavtek (Xavier Rotivel) added a critique 2 years ago:
this is great black and white, maybe a little too contrasty, but composition is brilliant : you only see the characters at the end of the road when your eye follow it's way.
kamaki (Christophe) added a critique 2 years ago:
I agree with Xavtek about the contrasts, but I like the picture much , however !
chaba (David Chabashvili) said 2 years ago:
Thank you guys.
xavtel: actually i was going for the contrast. But have to agree with you - maybe bit too much. But i guess the contrast was also intensified by slight toning.
