Nice composition but in particular I like the texture of the cement.

I love the strong shapes and the grainy feel to this image, nice work!

Beamer (Clyde Beamer) added a critique 1 year ago:

A sign in the wilderness.... This is very nice, I might push the contrast/grain and see if it makes it more dramatic. Might be cheating a little, but if it were me, I would try it without the power lines, just to see if the composition holds up..?

grahambo (Graham Siebe) added a critique 1 year ago:

I like the picture. The composition, with the lines to give context, is great.

My only question is the topic. I don't have enough elements to begin pondering a story from. It feels more like still life. Very well executed still life.

nrcowlishaw (Nathan Cowlishaw) added a critique 1 year ago:

Good composition, my only dislike is the grain, or grain clusters. Overall it is a nice shot. The cross tied to the telephone pole is very emotive.

nice, simple and powerful, like it

To me, the framing gives it sort of an abstract feel. Like the space station from 2001. It looks really good in the thumbnail. Perhaps if it were completely out of focus?

When I look at the full size picture, my eye doesn't know where to go. The area of sharp detail leads out of frame, as does the curve on the left.

I wrote a critique for this image yesterday which doesn't appear in this list. Anyone know what might have happened?

Hi APBob, haven't seen anything ... strange! feel free to add one again!

Love the detail in the water, must have been tough to get... it seems a little blurred as well.

Beamer (Clyde Beamer) added a critique 1 year ago:

Yes, a little faster shutter would have frozen the water a little better. I would also try this as a vertical composition with the sign centered putting the water off center slightly. Might be nice...

Lea (Lea Mulqueen) added a critique 1 year ago:

I like the horozontal composition...or I would if the entire top of the fountain were included. To me, it would be a nicer image had you used a tripod and made a LONGER exposure (around 1 sec) to give the water more of a flowing look.

grahambo (Graham Siebe) added a critique 1 year ago:

I like it a lot the way it is. The crop works very well for me.

I wonder if it might be better with a little less DOF, or focused a little bit further out. The front edge of the fountain has a lot of detail compared to the rest of the non-subject scene elements. Then again, from experience I know that's something I probably wouldn't catch until I got home on my computer, at which point who knows if the shot could be reproduced.

Very nice minimalism. Only thing I wish was that the ball was a bit more sharp...Otherwise, perfect!
