Very much captures "Noir" - as in Alfred Hitchcock. Nicely composed.

nice layering and post prodction image
Lemmingstone (Peter) said 1 year ago:
Thanks again everyone. Much appreciated.
VT - That is the exact look I was going for - "crossed-lomoholganized-artsy-fartsy-something". Couldn't have described it better :)

looks like an old photograph with a lot of history ... normally i don't like heavy editing or added layers, but this is an interesting shot! nice work!
grahambo (Graham Siebe) added a critique 1 year ago:
I don't normally go for this sort of thing, but this really works for me. I think it comes down to a couple things:
1. The photo has more interesting details than before.
2. As Lindy said, it fits the subject (LA).

Excellent ! What a clever composition... the way you framed this pic makes it all. Congrats !
CodeRed (Cody Redmon) added a critique 1 year ago:
Indeed, a great composition. I'd like to see this in black and white or a slightly-warmed duotone. Regarding tone, I notice a slight disparity between the left and right halves of the image that is a bit distracting, but it may have been intentional. Regardless, fantastic work!
aloha_photo (Jeff Sisemoore) said 1 year ago:
Thanks, again, for all the comments. CodeRed, I added a gradient to this photo which probably accounts for the disparity.
PhotoDaniels (Stephanie Daniels) added a critique 1 year ago:
Fantastic image! I would love to see this in black and white, too!! The window on the left does visually feel like it's running out of view but that could be intentional. Overall, this is excellent!!!
aloha_photo (Jeff Sisemoore) said 1 year ago:
@PhotoDaniels. The photo is cropped close to the left window because the edge of the building lies just beyond the frame and the background beyond was quite distracting. I tried B&W, but didn't like it nearly as much as the color version. Thanks for your comment.

Yikes!!! That's a real fixer upper for sure. A story I'd love to know...vandalism? or just age?
ties (Ties Dufraing) said 1 year ago:
quite a story indeed!
could've looked a bit more dramatic with some curves adjustments maybe ... but it's a great scene!
sniker said 1 year ago:
Thanks to both of you. I don't really know the story myself. It must be somewhat inbetween both vandalism and age. This was a room in a long deserted building on a place where freight trains come in. From the extend of what I could see, I guessed that homeless people had been living there for a while... No clue why they trashed their only bathroom like that ^^

beautiful image. the tones and the blur made a dreamy image.
ties (Ties Dufraing) added a critique 1 year ago:
beautiful colours and scene! it certainly fits the theme, both literally and symbolically ...
Jordan (Jordan Young) added a critique 1 year ago:
camera shake is noticeable but adds so much to the image. don't change a thing! it's perfect!
leaves added a critique 1 year ago:
this is a unique blue i like it a lot! the beach and the boat are crisp and the natural blur makes for a smooth backdrop. i like how the sun is over the edge of the horizon enough to be visible but not enough to overcome the photo, it fits nice for the blue topic :)

this pic is cool, i like this gaussian blur^^ i allways like gaussian blur^^

thnaks Susan, I just come from my holidays so I just have seen your comment, and yes, that was my intention on this photo, thanks again
TammyLynn (Tammy) added a critique 1 year ago:
Lovely photograph of a child. I feel it would be more powerful if the hair wasn't blown out and some of the left side of the photograph cropped off so that the child was in the right third of the photo instead of the right fourth.
ties (Ties Dufraing) added a critique 1 year ago:
i think a classical 3/4 dimension or even a square could've worked better, but i absolutely love the scene. the bright child against the water is simply beautiful!
azurepro added a critique 1 year ago:
I agree, a cropped square would have worked better for me, but lovely idea and colouring.
chromadreams (David) said 1 year ago:
thanks for your comments, but really I don't think a square format would be better, well it's just about taste I think.

You have excellent digital processing skills! I love the clarity and tones, especially the trees and sky!
mosesport (Moses) added a critique 1 year ago:
I agree that the sky detracts from the sign a bit, which should be the main focus. Also, the angle's a little hard for me to feel great about. It's a very well post-processed shot though. The detail is great as well. :) I'd like to see the sign brightened a bit. Great work though!

manolomartin (manolo martin) added a critique 1 year ago:
i don't like the excess of process. it seems more a picture than a photo.
ties (Ties Dufraing) added a critique 1 year ago:
amazing signs!! so you're ok with the topic! the editing is also nicely done ... adds the perfect feel for this scene.
PhotoDaniels (Stephanie Daniels) added a critique 1 year ago:
Crazy photo! I love it! I love the processing here! The angle kind of makes me dizzy but I think it makes the photo.

Love it, don't see an halo's here either. I love all the imperfections on the fruit too, the only one I would have rotated out of sight is the dark stem on the central one, it seems to distract from the repetitive nature of the abstraction....
leaves added a critique 1 year ago:
i agree about the dark stem, and when i first saw this i did notice the color noise.
after looking at this photo a few times i realize that overall i love the repetitive shapes and shadows. also as pointed out above the imperfections of the mangoes hold very nicely in the photograph - every mango is unique :P
cool shot
ties (Ties Dufraing) added a critique 1 year ago:
very natural picture! i like it ...
grahambo (Graham Siebe) added a critique 1 year ago:
I see the halo/CA thing too. Look on the top left edge of the top left grapefruit (I think?). But it doesn't bother me. The central stem gets to me a little too, but not much.
