I bet the guy with the black pieces won.

@Paul
Thanks Paul. I spent quite a few minutes moving around. The wideangle zoom was quite handy.
@Brandon
You seem to know your chess, Brandon. When I left, black was the exchange up (white's rook for his knight)and should win in that open position. I might even try my luck next time - organiser (white) says he plays in the daytime as well in the same place. :)

Very interesting.
I like the pattern on the left middle pain.
Adds a lot more interest to this well executed simple shot.

Thanks, Mike. Came across this rather rundown backlane shop/warehouse in my local shopping centre and was trying to portray its old-world and rather improvisatory environs.

An opportunistic shot when I was photographing inside St Patrick's Cathedral just a few days ago. I was setting up my SLR with telezoom lens on the tripod aiming at the array of sunlit windows when i saw this Japanese tourist just in front of me. The backlit effect so caught my eye that I had to do an impulsive shoot and was pleasantly surprised by the almost monochrome golden haloed outcome from this one-off shot.

Just... Wonderful

Thanks, Fabrizio. Chance (serendipity) is often such a vital factor in photography, isn't it?

Fantastic angle and clarity. Great job with the lighting as well.
tengtan (Teng Tan) said 1 year ago:
Thanks, Leigh-Anne. It was kind of a byproduct of my shooting for the train topic.

Fantastic Symmetry-i prefer this over the other one you submitted to this category...where is this?
tengtan (Teng Tan) said 1 year ago:
Thanks, Paul. It is the newish Southern Cross Station the main railway terminal for country and interstate trains in my Melbourne. The design has won much accolade among architectural circles overseas.

I like this image as well. There is just something about it that is appealing. I can't exactly put it into words. Maybe its the strong colors or the light play on the walls, I don't know I just know that I like it and keep coming back to look at it.
psychodudu (Andrew Parker) said 1 year ago:
We are all entitled to our opinions, Brandon. I see no value in an image like this, I'm afraid. Those first images you linked to had something particular about them, were processed in an interesting or intriguing manner. If this image is of that genre, then fine, ok, it's just not that good then.
VernonTrent (Vernon Trent) said 1 year ago:
well,
this is a good example where not to book a hotel room *joke*
I could imagine this image in b/w (converted in red channel wiht high contrast)
the only things here are a bit unbalanced, are the choice of colours. tis has nothing to do with the photographer, just the hotel crew :-)))
congrats on the feature teng :-)
cheers

Well, well, well. I'm somewhat flattered that the image is the subject of this interesting exchange. Thanks for the comments, Brandon, Vernon and Andrew.
It's all subjective of course. Certainly the colour scheme is outlandish but I guess my focus here was on the "duo" aspect when I photographed in this bedroom of the holiday house of a friend before going to bed - as twin beds had not been done in this topic.
@Brandon
Thanks for the appreciation and the interesting link references.
@Andrew
Thanks for the frank opinion.
@Vernon
I'd agree a B&W would be less confrontational/controversial. :)
This is such a cool shot! I love the color and the contrast. It's perfect! :) :)
