Sorry, I wasn't clear enough in my statement regarding the composite ~ only because it is such a wonderful once in a lifetime shot someone could. think it was a composite. I didn't mean to imply that I thought it was! :)

I myself captured some lightening this summer, tho not nearly as dramatic or beautiful; but a cool thing anyway.

If you're interested, you can see it here:

Lightning photos are my favorite. I also try to capture it but have yet to be successful. I love the picture and hopefully one day I will submit one as great as yours.

athamanass (thanos) added a critique 1 year ago:

It's strange way of thinking but the fact that this image could easily be a composite makes it less important than it should be. Eventhough it real and what you capture is very unique we have seen it so many times in fake images and thus a little bit of magic and power is lost.
Of course as everybody else I think it's a brilliant shot anyway

Great shot. Timing IS everything. Lonely country feel, awesome.

amazing shot,not much critique possible,
but if i were nitpicking,i'd wonder what this shot would look like if it were wider.

I like this composition. The old man's face is very expressive. Good interaction with the man in the back.

Wow, there is nothing like taking advantage of professional lighting. I like the expressions that you have captured in the various players' faces and how the focus is all on the girl. That is, of course, execept for the bloke with the tape measure who is concentrating on his job. I maybe would have liked the composition to be framed from a little lower viewpoint, maybe just below camera man eye height, but this is very minor.

taikrixel (thomas mueller) added a critique 7 months ago:

i want to know more about the location and what's happen there.
it's interesting, but i think the compositon doesn't work very well with the cutted person right down. i had chosen a lower angle...

Beamer (Clyde Beamer) said 7 months ago:

Hey Thomas, good point about the camera angle, I think you are right. I was just being lazy probably. This was taken during a HD video shoot for a "promo"/commercial for the NBC show "American Gladiator". The guy holding the camera is the DP (Director of Photography), the guy with the ruler is the camera operator, he is measuring for focus. During the take he will pull focus manually. The cutoff guy on the floor is providing wind from a fan to blow her hair around so she looks like she is outside.

I am the Visual Effects Supervisor for this project. We shot the talent on greenscreen and are now in the process of compositing them into stock footage backgrounds. I was just walking around with my camera shooting some candid stuff during the shoot.

Supercroma shooting!!!! wow!!! I use to work on cinema in Spain. For me the best of this photo is the way you show the camera show, with the DOP and the handcamera gadget like in "Babel" and focus guy with the meter. I love the green of croma, that shows the "new cinema".

I hope finally you have a good work with effects!!!

Wonderful idea and execution.
I agree that this reminds me that these days are coming soon!

Very lovely - the composition is wonderful and the lines look to participating in a ballet together.
This almost looks like powdered sugar...

How wonderfully mundane and yet so unique. This is classic and quite printworthy. I'd be proud of this one

TracyMartin (Tracy Martin) said 7 months ago:

Geez I wonder where you took this. ;)

taikrixel (thomas mueller) said 7 months ago:

nice one, but i think because of the high perspective there's to much surrounding area around the repetition.

VernonTrent (Vernon Trent) said 7 months ago:

thanks for your feedback, taikrixel :-)

about which repetition are you talking?

there are more repetitions in this pic,
the chairs
the stone flower tubs
the stairs
the statues
the small pillars in the curb
the water reflections in the sand ground

... only the human subject has no repetition :-)

@blaze883r

De Tenerife no, pero si he visitado la isla en julio, y quede encantado con ella. Tambien queriamos sacar una del auditorio con mas luz pero estabamos alojados en el sur y teniamos muchas cosas que ver aun por lo que al final no me fue posible.

Saludos!
