My son (4) can't figure out why he only has one leg. Too funny! Nice shot.

Geo,
Oh! for just a little more sharpness...I would have cleaned up the foreground - it's a little messy, and cropped it more tightly - nice effort overall, however.
Best,
Jon

Beautiful colors and lighting here - looks like a candidate for shot with a story... What's the story behind your shot?

Jon

I came across this abandoned ship while vacationing in St. Maartin. I'm not really sure if it's tied down to anything or just floating there on its own. I would imagine that it's probably one of the many casualties of "Shipwreck Alley".

I agree that this is nicely captured. It looks almost as if the skipper pulled it in on purpose. Colour and detail really invite the eye to wander the frame and take it all in, well done.

i like this shot, great colour and lightning but the boat seems to be too much centered for me
grahambo (Graham Siebe) added a critique 9 months ago:
The composition doesn't grab me either. I could go for either something less centered or significantly tighter. Do you have the extra resolution to crop this down?

Very pretty, great shot. I you had moved the camera about 4 inches higher, the top rail would separate from itself near the top of the image where it turns the corner. That's the only part that bothers me, now they are just tangent to each other and almost touch.

Gorgeous color and lighting - nice composition. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks all for the fice critiques!
Beamer, I see what you mean. The thing is, I kind of like that fact, it gives it somewhat of a "trompe l'oeil" feel - meaning, you can't really tell which rail is receeding or coming forward.
I do value the feedback, though, because I wasn't really thinking about those to lines being tangent.
pfeel (Phil Verges) said 9 months ago:
oops, I meant to say "those two lines being tangent."

I love this photo! The colors are great, the composition is wonderful and so is the lighting. It just goes to show that anything can be beautiful in the right eye!

Nature is so amazing! Nice shot
KerriDoodle (Kerri) said 9 months ago:
Yes it is! I'm amazed that I could get any of this in enough focus!

...IT being nature, that is! :0 Thanks for the compliment.

Good idea, but the execution is not quite there. So - it's still interesting!

I love the idea but in my opinion, the composition is a bit off. I think a bit of straightening, and slight shift to the right would've worked much better. I actually like the inclusion of the child though. I think it adds some quirky interest.
Nick (Nick) added a critique 9 months ago:
I like the light and the idea. I wish the little person was more central.

The next time I get back to this place, I'm going to rework the shot. Thank you all for the tips. So, I think move the shot to the right to show more of the width of the stairs, try to increase the height, and get my daughter to cooperate and be slightly more centered (that'll be a challenge for a 2 and a half year old). Thanks for the ideas, all.
photoaholic (Geoffrey Reynertz) added a critique 9 months ago:
i like the idea it fits perfectly to the topics.
perhaps the little girl would have been much interesting in another place of the shot (ex : down the stairs)

Very cool. This person appears defeated, or relieved at the rising of the sun.

Amazing. Reminds me of "Gone With the Wind" scene when Scarlett vows to never go hungry again!
