I too agree that the person adds to the shot, rather than taking away. It places the shot in the real world, and give it perspective. Otherwise, it could have been a model...

A real Escher capture in the real world !
Incredible !

¡¡¡Enhorabuena!!!!, he visto esta foto en la portada que Canon tiene para enviar sus noticias ("You connect").

Hey, I got this advertisement from Canon today. And they used your shot! I thought I had recently critiqued it here. Congrats!!

Great shot. I like the fading passers-by as much as the double phone boots. Great effect of the partial saturation.
stilfoto (Stefan Nielsen) added a critique 3 months ago:
One of the rare occasions where I like selective saturation - but I think it would have been better if you had pulled back a little on the red. It's a bit too bright red imo. But all in all it's a good picture...

It's a pity those are being removed.

I really like the selective saturation. Normally I don't care for it, but it appears more natural in this image. Great exposure.

I'm afraid this doesn't really doe anything for me...
It's grainy and it's blurry - and sometimes those things can be good to a picture and add some new dimension or something like that. But (at least imo) that's not the case here - here it's just blurry and grainy...
Furthermore that white thing in the top left corner ruins the composition.
I'm afraid I can't give any advice for improvements on this.
sfkp (Tamara) added a critique 3 months ago:
I think this was beautiful when you directly saw it, but I agree: now it's only blurry. Maybe if you made this one from another corner, with some buildings (or even better: the building what was giving this reflection) directly in your camera's view then it made more sense to me.
lightningPaul (Paul) added a critique 1 month ago:
It's definitely missing something. What is the reason for having so much grain?
Probably it is blurry because it was reflected in water, but you cannot see that it is a reflection.
The white thing at the left is disturbing; better to crop it away and perhaps keep a square format.

Nice capture, they sure are interested in you. Very good capture. I might have "punched" the tonal range a bit.
cushmok added a critique 4 months ago:
bravo ! très belle image bien en relation avec le thème !
bluechameleon (Sharon Wish) added a critique 4 months ago:
Oh...this is really such an amazing capture! The artwork as a backdrop for these children works wonderfully. It's as though they have escaped a nightmare, and are completely unscathed. If I were to do it differently, I wouldn't change a thing :)
stilfoto (Stefan Nielsen) added a critique 3 months ago:
A great capture indeed - a pcure I can look at for a long time...
The children are perfectly placed in the frame and doing it in B&W was the right choice. The only minor thing I might have done differently is crop out the door on the left - but as I said: It's a minor thing. All in all it's a great picture.
sambhara (Michael Bogdan) added a critique 2 months ago:
I don't know which i like best; the children or the art work. One thing is for sure; they go great together...

i love love love the detail in the bridge and all its parts.
and i think its a really wonderfully shot photo.
but i cant decide if croppin the top was a better idea than croppin the right hand side for example..
but either way
great shot!
stilfoto (Stefan Nielsen) added a critique 3 months ago:
Much, much better than your reflection shot. The tonal range is good and we have some nice textures to look at on the pillars. I would have liked to see a little more of the bridge though...
breaves (Brennan Greaves) added a critique 3 months ago:
I agree, nice tonal range and detail, but I think it is cropped in too much at the top.
soreks (Fedor Soreks) added a critique 3 months ago:
Lookds good, great texture and color! The complete line of the upper parapet would be nice to see though.
snaps (Dana N) added a critique 3 months ago:
Great texture, but I too, can't decide where I would have cropped this photo. I feel like I would have wanted to get in closer on the centre decorative piece.

too sharp and dark for me
aloha_photo (Jeff Sisemoore) added a critique 4 months ago:
I have to agree with the "over sharp" sentiment expressed by others. I do like the processing otherwise. Your subject has a great face, too.
JBridges (Jim Bridges) added a critique 4 months ago:
I agree that it looks a bit over-sharp, but I personally don't think it's a problem with this image. It is a little bit dark (and I literally mean very little). But over-all, it's got good character and I think it works.
stilfoto (Stefan Nielsen) added a critique 3 months ago:
A bit oversharpened to me also - and a bit over processed in general. But I like the expression and composition
op_perrin (Olivier Perrin) added a critique 3 months ago:
j'aime beaucoup ce portrait, mais je trouve que l'effet donné est trop poussé, je l'aurais fait moins fort.

Thanks for the comment Jim.
Hindsight, i noticed the cut off fin.
The color is due to underexposing to get it without any highlight clipping. I probably could remap the colors for a more pleasing solution....
Beamer (Clyde Beamer) added a critique 4 months ago:
I agree about the composition, but as I see the trunk is open, a looser compo might not have been that attractive either. Beautiful tones, beautiful car!!

Thanks for the comment Clyde!
Great ideas for the next round!
stilfoto (Stefan Nielsen) added a critique 3 months ago:
I would acturally prefer to cut it a little more in the top - to get rid of the trunk door. And then I would crop it close to the taillight too. This gives a cleaner composition imo. And the colors could use a little more punch...

As others have said, good lightning and colors. I'm not sure about the composition. It's cool to have the man in the center, but he is looking left with his eyes, which want me to have more space on the left. But I am not sure.
Great photo anyway!

I like this for street - this is a grab, right? With a little more work on the highlights and comp. this is a great portrait.
Best,

stilfoto (Stefan Nielsen) added a critique 3 months ago:
Nice lighting and good story - but the composition could be a lot better imo. If you crop it a bit on the right and in the bottom you get a much more appealing composition. The center of attention will be where "the rule of thirds" says it should be (and yes, I know rules a meant to be broken - but in this case I would stick to the rule)
Nice repetition here!
