There is a way fortune-telling if one is loved or not by tearing down the petals of the chamomile and saying "loved" and "not loved" in turns; the last petal to be torn gives the answer.

I tried to convey the shaky feeling of being unsure of one's love, hence one chamomile is sharp and half-cut and the other is half-cut and blurred and one half-blurred to symbolize how uncertain one would feel even if the "loved" answer is given by fortune-telling.

With your explanation, I sort of see what you're trying to do here, but I don't think it comes across that well. I think there would be other ways to communicate that idea better. As for this photo, what if you took the same advice you gave the dog photo--go for a square crop, getting rid of most of the left side and putting more emphasis on the flower on the right side.

To be honest, it does not come across easily even in the culture where the said way of fortune telling is customary :).

I also think getting rid of the left side would be a good idea, thanks Jim, I'll try it!
