Nice composition. The texture of the statue looks a bit strange, but in a good way. The time of the day you choosed to take this shot, is well chosen becouse that shiny texture is well visible. The long shadows of the trees gives the scene the right feeling.
It was a good choice to photograph it with that woman in vision. But she is looking down, I think every other position of her head and eyes would made it more interesting. It would give the image some magic if she was looking to the statue or directly into the lens.

Beamer (Clyde Beamer) added a critique 4 months ago:

This is a pleasing image, but doesn't hold a lot of interest or impact. The statue and the woman are not connected and, therefore, somewhat distracting to the eye. I find myself looking of into the upper right wondering what those folks are doing...

Tamara: This is just a snapshot, I must confess. I thought it has some depth and it seems so, but the composition breaks apart due to unconnected pieces.

Clyde: Well, the eye path was supposed to be statue-women-shadows-trees-folks, so it worked to an extent, but as I can see now the eye is led fruitlessly. BTW, those folks (students, I think, the University is just across the road) just chatted and drunk some beer. :)

Thanks a lot for the useful critiques, Tamara and Clyde.

This is a very interesting shot. It is almost like there are two frames that have been ps'd together because the lighting and feel is so very different on the statue compared with the other elements. I think that the shot of the woman walking out of shot, head down, away from the group in the woods is interesting enough on its own ... but that would kinda defeat the purpose of the shot.

I find this image to have a lot of very engaging elements that are interesting on their own. Somehow though, in totality its not coming together like you said. I like the technicalities here - contrast, tone etc but dont quite get a sense for what the story is. As an unproductive commenter, I cant quite pinpoint what would fix it either so I know I am not being very helpful.

I think technically the picture needs a little more "pop"/contrast with the black and white. (I wonder how it looked in colour?) But compositionally, I have to agree with others that the elements in the picture seem disconnected/don't quite come together. Like Ayash, I am not sure what the story is/what the photo is trying to say. (But also like Ayash, I am not sure what to constructively say about it either.)
