Nice, but I think it needs eyes showing. I didn't know what it was at first.

Thanks everybody. :)
@ Cindy, thanks, but I think it would be impossible to get enough DOF on a 400 to show both the eyes and the nose in focus; I Had I selected a shorter lens to increase DOF, I would have been a heap of bones with vultures squabbling over me...
And: A lion in this position will have its eyes closed 100% of the time
And: It's a shot of a nose, not a face portrait, I could post about two hundred of those. Pars pro toto, I wanted to make you look twice.

The glare is what catches my eye first, then the shadows. Very nice photo otherwise, good catch.

quite a procession!

Very neat perspective, I agree that the glare is a bit distracting.... Nice photo!
Neuner added a critique 11 months ago:
The glare didn't bother me as much as it did the others. I really enjoy the shadows and how much they are alive in the capture. The lines from the ships mast and ropes are perfect for drawing your eyes down to the subject. Excellent.

This is a wonderful emotional picture. I am drawn in by the eye of the little child who seems sad but not to sad. The composition is great, just slightly off center and the sepia tones make it that much more appealing. Well Done.

Sigh...reminds me of my own children and their emotions. I feel it! I love it!

I like the colors, but it does seem a bit blurry. I don't know if you had it on a tripod or anything, but if you didn't try it with a tripod or set the camera on something sturdy and use the timer to get the shot, this will help prevent the movement more.
Keep trying and you will get a great shot.
20seven (Greg Newman) added a critique 11 months ago:
Fireworks are HARD to catch. As the prior critique suggests, try to use a tripod or a monopod. A bean bag would work too.
You can also try a slower shutter if you want to get some long trails on them.
It's a good start though. Keep going!
ikol22 (Fabrizio Zanelli) added a critique 11 months ago:
You can get fireworks in only one set: high f/stop (16 to 22) per 3 to 10 sec -- 100 ISO (or default low ISO). With differents set come out this sort of blurry thing

I always like fireworks, but I do agree that they are a little blurry. I too have trouble capturing them clearly. Keep trying and maybe I will learn from you.

A little blurry. A tripod is a must for fireworks to come out well. It's not easy.

In my opinion, this one is much better than the processed version you posted a few days ago. I like the various green tones and the feeling of coolness.
Only one small point : by moving a few steps towards the left, perhaps you could have avoided the branch which "cut" the fall.
juanantonio (J.A. Pellicer) said 1 year ago:
Gracias por su comentario, tiene razon cuando dice que la rama corta la caida, pero seguramente el plano utilizado para salvarla, de haberlo utilizado (desplazamiento hacia la izquierda), le habria restado gama tonal. No obstante tengo esa otra fotografia para comparar. Saludos cordiales.

I agree with mmeye, stepping a few feet to the left would have allowed for a much less obstructed view. The branches are very distracting. That and the colors seem a bit muted. Maybe try with some sunlight hitting it or something.
