I think you know my opinion of this image (don't like the vertical lines). But, I do think this is a great entry for the theme. Cheers.

I really love this image. It probably doesn't need the extra processing, but I do like the effect. I'd love to hear more about how you did it.

AngryBuddha (Sean Bailey) said 1 year ago:

I added the sepia and did some curves adjustments with circular gradients to isolate the tree. After that, I added vertical grain and did a random cloud filter on the layer mask.

Where is the flower. The picture is really lacking a subject. The processing is interesting, but maybe a bit grainy.

silenzioso (alberto) added a critique 1 year ago:

I'm not sure about the noise... but I like your use of DOF on this!

joka (Johannes Kapp) said 1 year ago:

Thanks very much for your comments!
@gregcsmith:
the picture has a subject!

Pi-Production (Eric Rousset) added a critique 1 year ago:

Sorry but I'm agree with Greg, where's the flower ??
Anyway good PP indeed ;-)

joka (Johannes Kapp) said 1 year ago:

Sorry, I overlooked that this topic needs a bloomy flower.

I didn't make a focal point and don't really want one. I took this photo as an abstract reflection and I really wanted the moodiness of the photo to show through more than anything. I was also hoping that it would be a little on the creepy side as well.

Ben (Downing) added a critique 1 year ago:

cary I seem to enjoy the fact that there is no focal point, it makes the picture seem very uneasy or unsettling much like the topic of American Consumerism.

kamaki (Christophe) added a critique 1 year ago:

Multi windows impressions and reflections
well done !maybe the light in up right (to blank in this atmosphere)

chrislaw2007 added a critique 1 year ago:

I like this very much. As to focal point, I think that the eyes of the mannequin on the right draw me right in, and very eerily so! I definitely find this creepy Cary! Well Done!

The title for the photo could be "Dry Roots".

silenzioso (alberto) added a critique 1 year ago:

great composition... I'm not sure of noise..

gregcsmith (Greg Smith) added a critique 1 year ago:

I agree. A bit noisy. There seems to be a bit of green in there somehwere, would like to see more of it.

odon (Odon Dias) said 1 year ago:

Thanks, Alberto and Greg. I think that the picture get a noise effect when I resize it for the 600x398 dimensions. The original is better but too large.

I like the composition but the top of the flower is overexposed.

byutanner (Jason Tanner) added a critique 1 year ago:

I like your thought. The black and white really gives this a sense of drama as the flower wilts. Different than most. Good thinking.

Sher (Sher Hilliard) added a critique 1 year ago:

I dont personally think the top is overexposed - I can still see detail well. The lighter and darker areas contrast well. Nice photo.

Jenseye (Jen) said 1 year ago:

Thank you very much, I appreciate all comments and critques!!

silenzioso (alberto) added a critique 1 year ago:

I like composition too, but the flower should be on light, IMO...
