You've said all I would have said about the edges and the middle. The aperture you used was not appropriated IMHO. Try the same shot with f/8, it will probably be better ;-)

This is one of the first photo's I made with my brand new Canon eos 450D. Never had a SLR before... I'm really excited!!
btw I know the picture it isn't perfect (edges of the leave are sharp, the middle isn't. The other way around would be better imo), I know, but hey, I've to share this 'news' to you? :p
