Love the comp - the light - the texture. Beautiful job!

Yes, I agree that this is a very strong composition of an unusal subject. Great colour and texture captured, and I love the ivy creeping out of the bottom left of frame.

Beautiful colors and nice sweep of light across the photo. Did you soften the upper right in post processing? Just curious. Wonderful work!

belle abstraction dynamique et la couleur est superbe. Dommage le déséquilibre des flous assez irrégulier. Post traitement ?
boyd added a critique 9 months ago:
I also like the abstraction here, with the colour and lines working well in the image. My first reaction was that I would have preferred it to be sharper right across the frame, but on a longer gaze I think that the use of dof works quite effectively.

Stephen,
Another winner, in my opinion. I like your work. The lighting isn't wonderful, but it's good - it's a little flat. The composition is strong, although the dof leaves a little to be desired. Having said all that - I like it.
Best,
Jon

I agree with Jon, it is kinda flat, and the hole in the leaf on the right side is a little distracting. good job though.

Thanks for the feedback. I've played with cropping out the tear in the leaf on the right, but it just seems to be worse. I see what you mean by it being flat - perhaps some post processing (this is pretty much the straight jpeg image from the camera.
Jon, I'm curious about your comment on the dof - do you think it would be stronger with the foreground of the leaf in focus more?
jvgphoto (jon van gilder) added a critique 9 months ago:
Stephen,
Absolutely!I think it would have significantly strengthened the shot.
Best,
Jon

Lovely colr, soft and pleasing to the eye. Could be a touch clearer, but I like it.
boyd added a critique 9 months ago:
I agree with Sonoma that the softness of the colours works very well across the frame. It is a shame that the focus isn't a tad sharper on any particular part to help draw the eye in even more.

I have to say, I agree with Sonoma and boyd. The colors are terrific. A sharper focus would have made this one pop.

Stephen,
Very nice work - love the soft colors and am not bothered that it is a little soft as to the focus. Beautiful capture.
Best,
Jon
une belle perruque pour ce tronc et une netteté irréprochable pour la texture de l'écorce!Amusant
