Thanks Anna and Ron. I appreciate the feedback.

soyrosa added a critique 1 year ago:

Oh man, she looks sweet! Adorable, really :) It can be minimalistic because of the relative small space she takes in this picture, though you could have strongened the effect by adding some white space on the left and on top (just open a new document in photoshop which is bigger than the picture, copy/paste end blur the spots that doesn't fit the white). But I love the picture the way it is now :)

byutanner (Jason Tanner) said 1 year ago:

Thanks Soyrosa. That's a good thought. I could set it to a neutral since around her isn't blown out either. Thanks!

It's a beautiful portrait of your niece. Nothing to be critical of from my point of view. Nice work Jason!

Ron this is an absolutely fabulous photo. Your use of selective saturation here is spot-on. I can sense the action and movement along with the mood. Really very nice work!

psychodudu (Andrew Parker) said 1 year ago:

Did you try just the boy and the flag?

ronjones (Ron Jones) said 1 year ago:

Thanks, eveeryone. This was the Battle of Hurricane, West Virginia.

Neuner said 10 months ago:

Usually I can't stand selective color, but your choice here is excellent! The image gives a sense of time & memories not to be forgotten with the color representing now and the b&w the past. The b&w areas also appear slightly blurred adding to the effect. I really like this one!

kadenajack (Jack) said 7 months ago:

I was just rating in the Selective Saturation topic and this image really jumped out from the group. Unfortunately it was only offered as a choice for me one time. I was happy to see it already featured though.

This is really a strong image to begin with, but the selective saturation really adds that extra bit of punch. Thanks for posting it.

In my opinion, one of the most creative images on Vazaar.

thank you :)

KerriDoodle (Kerri) said 10 months ago:

Maybe it's my new laptop, but I don't see any orange here...

However, it is a very evocative compilation.

calisto said 9 months ago:

Es muy bonita la composición. Es difícil saber qué elemento capta más la atención, si el agua o el color de las hojas.

PixelMix (Graeme Warren) added a critique 1 year ago:

Great shot, lots of punch. I agree with other however that the colours may be a little too strong. Also, is it just me that thinks the building is leaning forward slightly? It might benefit from a very minor straighten.

ronjones (Ron Jones) said 1 year ago:

Thanks, all, for your insightful remarks.

psychodudu (Andrew Parker) added a critique 1 year ago:

This is very artistic, like by the hand of a painter. However, I agree with the others, that if you are going to take that road, then you must really apply the same feel (or processing) to the whole image. I'm not a great admirer of this sort of image, although I do love a good abstract. This kind of falls between the cracks for me, it's neither one nor the other. That said, you do some truly great stuff, Ron.

paddlepunk (Holger Neu) added a critique 10 months ago:

looks a bit over-saturated, but it still loooks good ;-) great shot

Thanks, Carl. I don't know the story, unfortunately, but it appeared that they were just tired. They were both asleep.

MMeye (Martine) said 11 months ago:

Good capture! You have cleverly avoided an over-exposure on the white tee-shirt, in spite of the black zones around. One point however, maybe it would have more impact if your main subject was not centered, leaving place on the right or on the left to the environment. A nice scene anyway :-)

Ladybug (Lisa Ruokis) said 11 months ago:

I agree, MMeye about the composition . . . thanks for your feedback!

ronjones (Ron Jones) said 11 months ago:

Great work. Reminds me of an image out of Steinchen's Family Of Man.

Thank you so much, Ron. That means a lot!

Nice handling of exposure, the colors are nice and the boat adds needed foreground interest. Good job.
