Lovely shot - nice light - would have liked a little more detail in the right foreground - I think it would have provided some added interest.
Best,
Jon

This would have been a great time to use fill flash, it would let us see the subject in the shadows.
photoaholic (Geoffrey Reynertz) added a critique 8 months ago:
i agree with the fill-in flash idea, i'd like to see more the foreground, however it's an interisting comp.

Thanks for all your comments.
Beamer, the focus of the image is not the castle, it's the place itself. This is a place from where you can see the Alhambra (the castle) and many diferent people come to see the view. Some play music, some sell rings or anything handmade... It's an interesting place to see very diferent people. That's what I wanted to tell with the photo.
Beamer (Clyde Beamer) added a critique 8 months ago:
@Javier, well with that motive, I still don't think you achieved success. The people are not doing any of those things. They appear to just be sitting or standing around and one guy taking a picture. I still think the composition is weak and cluttered, not really guiding your eye to anything in particular. The centered horizon pulls down any interest, the foreground still fights for attention without delivering any of your motive.
Sorry if this disappoints, but it is my honest critique.

this picture is interesting, i'm not sure HDR was necessary here but surely it makez the shot very different. Quite unreal, i'm not sure i like but i can not stop looking at it.
whatever, the colour are wonderfull

Beamer, I accept your critique. I just explained what I wanted to say with the photo. Your comment doesn't disappoints me. It will help me to take a better photo next time.
Thanks :)

I love how the people look in this shot, the only distraction I see is the darkening of the sky between to two trees.

I like this, you often see water drops on cobwebs, but not often do you see frost!

very cool, I don't believe that I have ever seen that.

Nice use of DOF, nice lighting, interesting subject. Part of the subject being cropped off ruins the whole photo for me. Actually the more I look at it the more the DOF looks off to me. Was the background blurred post processing?
Myke (Michael) added a critique 10 months ago:
Nice colours but I agree with above comments. Would be nice not to have cropped as tightly and a bit more focus would work well if possible.
Beamer (Clyde Beamer) added a critique 10 months ago:
I agree about the framing would be better a little looser. I'm not sure I would have put this one in "Rust", there isn't really much rust on this, more of a patina I would call it. This might do better in "Shallow DOF".
rdavs (Rhonda Spencer) added a critique 10 months ago:
My mind questions the doorknob handle falling out of the frame to the left, the slight bit that is missing draws my eye. And now for the positive- the warm colors are wonderful and the subject matter is interesting.
jvgphoto (jon van gilder) added a critique 8 months ago:
This just misses being a great capture. Great colors and decent composition. The lower portion of the photo leaves something to be desired.

Very nice. Great clarity. Nice composition. Interesting color.
trphoto (Tony Rath) added a critique 9 months ago:
Nice capture. Great colors, contrast, and beautiful exposure. The angle could be improved, as the wings are at a difficult angle. These are difficult creatures to capture!
Jessa added a critique 9 months ago:
I agree with trphoto, I would have liked a slightly different angle. I know these are difficult to get. great job!
rdavs (Rhonda Spencer) said 9 months ago:
Good points, my focus at the time was that the dragonfly mirroring the angle of the broken branch.

When photographing flying insects there are many factors beyond ones control. I think you controlled those things you could control very well. Nice photo!

Very nice. If two center twigs were removed this would make a nice stock photo image. I agree the color could use a little bit of punch, but since my monitor is not calibrated to your monitor I can't be sure that would be a good thing.

woa good shot, and good dof, really also the bird looks good, this red...
rdavs (Rhonda Spencer) said 11 months ago:
Thanks everyone, never even thought of removing twigs- great critiques! Interesting on the red, the cardinal looks redder in PS than it does posted on line.

un rouge un peu terne mais l'arrière plan le met bien en valeur. Dommage pour le bout de queue manquant
Nice composition!
