Wow
fantastique atmosphere on this one the gradien mist
the rays on the left give depht to the framing but the transition between the upper part reduce the impact

Very nice composition.

It's funny that this is the one that is featured. I put this photo into the Critique section a few weeks ago and have made recommended changes that dramatically improve the photo. Here is the updated one, and thx to all who back into this community.

I love it. The simplicity of it makes it beautiful. Almost has a negative image feel to it. Seen many ice storms up close and personal and this makes a beautiful photo.
pouhou (Tony LUJIEN) added a critique 11 months ago:
Prime I thought it was a negative because of the contrast between the sky the main branchs and the thin branchs I was wrong.
So I like the usage of negative space that increase the minimalisme of this picture
trphoto (Tony Rath) added a critique 11 months ago:
Could use a little more contrast, and maybe a little more of the tree
photo24 (Sven H.) added a critique 11 months ago:
simplicity.yes.
but the color and dull tone.no
;-)

Very nice work and wonderful use of negative space with a negative image - just kidding. Well seen and well done!
Best,

I agree with Gary. My first thought was that the cars must be parked with their headlights on as they are not blurred or streaked. Given the low light available a slow shutter might be implied. Nicely done.
Now I know I'm being finicky, but I think I would have cloned out the white speck just above the vapor trail...even if it happens to be a crescent moon. It's not distinctive enough IMHO and competes unfavorably with the vapor trail (which I like).
Nice gradations of color from the darker blues at the top of the frame down to the orange colors at the horizon.

This is a great shot!...but I can't decide what to look at, the tree captures my eye right away, then the sunset, but I do find the cars distracting. Just my 2 cents. But very nice colours.

thanks for the comments
the cars are the reason why a asked for constructive feedback. I can't decide to leave or erase them. On one side they give depth to the image, on the other side they can be distractive. By the way, the picture is a blending exposure of two (to get light in the grass). There was only one car that now appears twice.
Thanks again

I love this. The colors are great, but if you're really looking, there are cool details in the bottom.Like the road, cars and sunset.
turkana (César) added a critique 11 months ago:
The cars, the river, the grat tree and the sunset. There are four highlights. My two eyes move between one ant he others and don'tknow where stop.
The photo is good. The problem, in my opinion, is that there are very beautiful items in the picture.
I'd left the tree in the right, but then te cars and the water reflections would be out.
Ok, them I crop and thne tree is in the left closing the scene. No, then you have lost the sunset.
Difficoult question.
The strenth of the great tree silhouette is clear.
So....
Anyway. Very beautuful landscape!!!

I would like to see it cropped so you only see the chain and the blue water. I'd back off on the saturation or filter for the blue. The chain texture and lighting are excellent. I'd also hold back on some of the contrast. The chain shadow bleeds into the shadow on the water.

Tiene gran fuerza pero encuentro demasiada luz en el muro y parte superior derecha.
blaze883r (Fernando Bordallo) added a critique 11 months ago:
I like the composition very much. The chain's texture looks really rusty, but I think the contrast is too strong. The colors seems to be oversaturated, and shadows are shown as full black zones.
Good pic, after all! ;)
pouhou (Tony LUJIEN) added a critique 11 months ago:
I like the texture of the chain and the blue of the water (seems a litle bit oversatured) and the contrast in the shadow is also too strong.
A cropping too keep the chain the main subjet will propably increase the strenght of the picture.
so it's up to you

vaya colores. Yo hubiese bajado un poco mas el horizonte, pero te comes el paseo iluminado. Me gusta.
Condiciones complicadas no?
saatchi (Albert Ferran) added a critique 11 months ago:
el cielo es perfecto, la tierra ha quedado algo oscura.... pero para eso está en la categoria low-light ;-)

Preciosa.
También opino que está un poquito demás de oscura pero es fantástica, sobre todo me gusta la luz de la carretera.

I don't aggree with Agnes Milosz, because this is a low-light topic photo.. but if it was about weather or so, Agnes would be right, better to highlight the sky instead of the pale shore.. Anyway, the sky looks wonderful, so meditative. But in my opinion, this shot is about the pale shore which shows the low-light feeling.. That's why I would prefer using a warming filter to saturate the shot a bit instead of pale blue color. Or you can try waiting a bit more and take a longer-exposed shot, or the better you can use HDR (High Dynamic Range).. You can simply do that by taking 3 same shots with +2, 0, -2 exposures and let the HDR programs where you can find it on the internet mix it correctly. You'll have a better shot. If you haven't tried it yet, you must :)
Good Luck!
pouhou (Tony LUJIEN) added a critique 11 months ago:
fantastique sky, the water is also ok like that but the land part is a bit to dark for me,
i agree with Gecko a blending exposure would be the solution

Like the first two said - The colors are too washed out & the funky purple around the lips & eyes are very distracting. Looks like she got hit in the eye & mouth. I guess I cringe b/c it looks like she's abused.

Thank you for comments. it brings me a lot.
For colors, a crossed treatment was applied, which stressed the colors of fatigue of this girl. I did not want (could not) arranged that by artificial make-up.
Neuner, don't be anxious, this forever beaten girl, unfortunately its so fine skin marks itself very quickly with tiredness…
Thank you still for its contrasted opinions
