I am constantly amazed at the similarities that we have in common with all forms of life. The network of blood vessels is fantastic and could be either like the structure of a leaf or of my own hand. I wonder if the absence of blubber requires more blood in the cold arctic waters. (I'm guessing a beluga whale)

anemix: Most definitely beluga whale, taken at the Vancouver Aquarium. In the original photo, the blood vessels were not very well defined. Which is why I *had* to make this a black and white shot. They are really quite amazing animals, and the pride of the aquarium.
