It's so strange to see a featured shot without comments so here come my words. Besides the interesting street life I reaaly like the rhythm of this image. I mean the distorted curve on the left 2/3 balanced by the static entrance on the right. Good selection of point and angle of view.

I really love this. It's slightly slanted toward the right but I can't tell if that's the street or not...I really like the blur in the subjects and the writings on the wall. I haven't got a clue what they mean but they look great! LoL! The single chair stands out to me, and combined with the blur of the other subjects, it adds a great sense of solitude. This is really good!!

TammyLynn (Tammy) added a critique 1 year ago:

This is a very nice composition, you've got the walker coming in from the left and the cyclist coming in from the right leading you to the chair in the middle. You've captured it well. Good choice of black and white here.

TheAntipodes (Menno van Zaanen) added a critique 1 year ago:

The composition is really nice and the light works well with it, highlighting the area around the chair (and the speaker or tv, or whatever is hanging up there).

Even the chair has a role in this one. Well done!

Wonderful wide angle perspective and I really like the slight slant on either end, motion and tones.

The panorama proportions really fit well with the scenes subjects, the range of tones from the foreground to the background is huge, love it! The only thing I might say is up the blacks in the front buildings, make it a bit more severe.

jasonwalker (Jason Walker) added a critique 1 year ago:

I think the panorama was an excellent choice for this scene, as it keeps the focus on ground level and not the surrounding buildings (as often happens in cityscapes). It would almost have the feel of a shot 20 or 30 years in age, if not for the minivan. Lighting of the four "main" characters is beautiful.

j'aime bien l'effet panoramique avec ce personnage au 1er plan. un B&W un peu plus accentué peut -etre

Stefan added a critique 1 year ago:

I like the shot, the b&w works perfect and the panorama was the best choice.

What a nice street capture - great use of the grayscale and good composition. Interesting subject holds us in the photo.

Best,

The panoramic format works very well to direct the eye and give dynamism here. Lens vignetting is also adding a nice vintage effect, though is perhaps a little bit too harsh in the center.
It's hard to judge at this resolution, but I'm also guessing that there is a very nice grain.

My only negative comment would actually be that the black frame is distracting and unnecessary, actually :)

CyberCarsten (Carsten) added a critique 10 months ago:

The pano format and the B&W work well together. Movement and activity are in this pic, nice comp. The only distracting thing is the totally empty space on the left part of the pic - somehing is missing / should be in here, I guess. Still, a nice pic.

Thanks!
Yes, it comes with grain, lots of it. Chinese bw film (ERA 100).
Vignetting, build-in! Its a Ansco Pano Cam with fix focus and fix aperture/shutter.
black frame from negative because I only shoot fullframe, but sometimes you are right, it creates a bit of obituary card effect.

This shot does have a lot going on, but it is very well handled. Thanks alto photo24 for sharing the equipment etc to give us an idea of the gear that was used to such great effect.

burlesot (Todd Burleson) added a critique 10 months ago:

Very nice moment. It is good to hear the equipment info too; it should make us all appreciate it even more.
