maybe a little bit of center... and too bad bad we can't see the grenn...leg of the flower
360Pixels (Ayash Basu) said 1 year ago:
Excellent lighting and contrast against the black.
philippe (Philippe Reichert) said 1 year ago:
@Andeton: the original was centered. Jsmanseau's comment explains why I put it off center...
@Ayash: thanks. Only natural light.

It's the graveyard of a ghost town in the middle of the desert of Atacama (chile). A lot of people came here to work in the copper mines. Today (well, at least when I made this picture, a few years ago), the place is completely abandonned and there's not a living soul in the area, if I may say so...

It would be nice to know more about the way they build those little fence-like structures. Interesting vernacular style cemetery.
Sher (Sher Hilliard) said 1 year ago:
This photo really makes you wonder and ponder. Its very sad..and very happy at the same time. It implies closeness yet aloneness. It makes me want to visit this place and take the time to really look. Good job!
philippe (Philippe Reichert) said 1 year ago:
@Sher: this place is definitely worth visiting. It's quite incredible. Although this was taken a while ago, I wouldn't be surprised to find out it's exactly the same today.
philippe (Philippe Reichert) said 1 year ago:
@Bob: good question. I've no idea why it was made this way. Maybe it's just a way to show the limits of a grave...

Thanks, Kurt, coming from you, it's flattering :O)
This was taken in the desert of Atacama (Chile) ... a few years ago, and post-processed last week.

God, it's impressive... The composition, the tones, the lack of a definitive focus point... All adding up to an immaculate one...
Would be an unquestionable twenty-fiver back at WS.

Great one philippe! I love it!!
philippe (Philippe Reichert) said 1 year ago:
Thank you guys for the comments. I had made this one for the "shallow DOF" theme but I didn't post it and I thought it would fit in this theme too...

I think the colours make this shot. Perfect time of day.
Jean-Francois said 1 year ago:
Without the light looking like lava spilling over the streets, I would have probably find this shot nice but a bit to "classical" or to "postcard- like"!
philippe (Philippe Reichert) said 1 year ago:
Jean-François, je suis tout à fait d'accord. En fait, cette image est loin d'être parmi mes favorites. J'ai vu qu'une photo similaire en N&B avait été choisie, et j'ai voulu faire une sorte de test en postant celle-ci. Mes images préférées ne sont pas forcément selectionnées. Je me perds en conjectures sur les goûts et les couleurs...

Belle interprétation du thème. Ces couleurs ajoute quelquechose de plus à la photo dite "classique"
philippe (Philippe Reichert) said 1 year ago:
Merci Pierre-Yves.
Beautiful. Love how its off centered and the colors are brilliant against the black. Nice job.
