Wow, the is really arresting. The eyes and expression are very compelling -- even a little disturbing.

I like the way the shape of the person in the background compliments that person in the foreground too.

The blownout section in the background is a little distracting but a nice image.

Speaks volumes. Eye contact strong because the person behind is 'just not seeing it'.
I like the fact the the other figure is a little out of focus, it gives more strength to the formost figure.

Very nice image, nothing to critisize, just why is there a black bar on the left edge?

schupin (Sylvain chupin) added a critique 1 year ago:

Really good shot !! The face of the woman is really expressive, and the DOC is perfect.

I love this shot. I think it is that much stronger with the man in the background than him cropped out. It tells such a story. Great.

prometheus (Thomas) added a critique 1 year ago:

I like it. But I would like the man mor out of focus, because it will help to get the focus stronger on her. And , really, the black bar disturbes a little.

Thanks All !
prometheus - the lens is f/2.8 so i couldn't do any more DOF
The bar is the original frame of the medium format camera.

Nice work - I agree with most of the comments above - the tonal range is good - I think perhaps it could be darkened overall a tad.

A pleasure to view

eggplant (Matt) added a critique 1 year ago:

Very nice antique feel here. My only suggestion is that the contrast is just the slightest bit flat. Other than that, great shot.

This is gallery material. I can't think of a higher compliment. Beautiful, humanistic, and tells a thousand tales. This is right up there with all the very best that portraiture has to offer.
