I really like this. The colors, tones and lighting are just great. It leaves me kinda wanting to see more of the front of the guitar, but then you'd probably lose the detail on the hand which is very interesting. I'd love to hear where this is and what it is made of! Do you have a pic somewhere of the whole thing? I'd like to see more of it.

Did you shoot this on film? How many photographs did you take that night? Was it a lucky shot?
I'm really impressed, especially since the thunderbolt is perfectly composed and the image is very-well exposed.

The composition is good and so is the contrast between the sky and the foreground, but it seems to me that the foreground is a little bit blurred, maybe motion-blurred.

very interesting treatment
Beamer (Clyde Beamer) added a critique 3 months ago:
Interesting, yes, attractive, well no, not for me. The subject looks very promising. The crops rows and the tree with the hillside in the distance could yield a very nice image is you shot with some "real" foreshortening.
boyd added a critique 3 months ago:
For me the thumbnail seems to work better than the full image. The colours and basic structure and details are great, but I am too distracted by the blurring of the trees in particular (especially given it is the topic). That said, this is an interesting experiment and it would be good to see more along these lines.
lauravink (Laura Vink) added a critique 2 months ago:
In contrast of boyd, I'm not distracted by the blur in the trees, but more the blurr in the foreground looks very very fake. If that hadn't been there, I would have like it much more.

Till I saw the date (day first, then the month) I thought it was something typical American to make a image like this. I was a bit surprised this is made by somebody from France. On the other hand, "9-11" has got a world wide effect and the face it is made by a non-American underlines that.
The idea is well-thought, though I think the edges of the statue of libery and her socle are too sharp. I like the halo.

Sorry, I ment "fact" instead of "face", it was a typo.

Emotivo trabajo. Saludos

my eyes are drawn more to the lights and powerlines amidst the trees than the people...but that could just be me
mikeock (Mike Adams) added a critique 3 months ago:
Cool effect but i think its a bit much blur wise.
If these people were to be the subject originally, i would have moved in closer, or zoomed in closer. The blur looks fine but with the amount vs how little you left in focus, is just a bit distracting.
boyd added a critique 3 months ago:
This is a very interesting treatment OP, one I doubt that I would ever be so brave/skilful to try. The concept has merit, but like Mike and Amy I am not sure that it quite works. Maybe as Mike says, the balance between blurred and sharp is not quite right. Keep experimenting, it is the kind of shot that really inspires others to try different approaches. Thanks.

merci pour vos commentaires, je vais retravailler la photo, mettre plus de flou gaussien autour des personnages, et retravailler mon cadrage.

Sorry, doesn't really work at all for me. Maybe could be accepted better in Photo manipulation topic.

This is a really cool concept for an image, OP. I love the different facial expressions that you have captured and the way that each is framed to balance nicely on its own, but to create a good montage. The only area that is a little distracting is that some of the individual images seem to be slightly different in their exposure so the skin tone changes (but it could be my monitor). Well done.
op_perrin (Olivier Perrin) said 2 months ago:
Merci pour vos remarques, pour Boyd, oui en effet il y a une légère différence d'exposition entre les photos, j'avais pas fait attention, j'étais en Braketing automatique, j'ai essayé de corriger au plus prêt mais c'est des JPG donc moins facile a modifier que des RAW.

I think this could have been a great photo if the background wasn't so busy. Perhaps another angle? I'd love to see more detail of that ornament too!
warreagle (Amy Warr) added a critique 3 months ago:
Merci! Thanks for the comments on my photos. This ornament is very interesting, I think I agree with snaps on the background though...it's somewhat distracting. the colors however are excellent!

I like the post production work that you have done here. I agree that the background is busy, but it is what it is. I like the compostion and the use of space. Well spotted and you have created a very interesting image.
Beamer (Clyde Beamer) added a critique 2 months ago:
Great subject, nice capture, but I must disagree with Boyd. I think the post-processing calls too much attention to itself. Looks like HDR to me, not sure though. This could probably work as B&W...?

Saludos
