It is ideal, isn't it?
I love all bout this!
Great job.

eli (Elijah Woolery) added a critique 1 year ago:

A nice image, but I agree with the comment that noted a shallower depth of field, to isolate the bottles in the frame, could be a nice effect; also, did you try different lighting (such as from below; maybe that would be too much like a bar...)

jsmanseau added a critique 1 year ago:

Great image and colors. I do agree with the comments of more of DOF and try different lighting, but this is very nice and eye catching. I really like the textures of the wall and also in the reflection in the bottles.

kombizz (kombizz kashani) added a critique 10 months ago:

nice compo

Bastian (Bastian Löhrer) added a critique 24 days ago:

It looks very good in the thumbnail, but I don't like the background. The composition and perspective are both well-chosen.

Mark,

Beautiful work - I can't add anything worthwhile, I'm afraid. Wonderful.

Good light and Good luck,
Jon

kitaoka (Mark Kitaoka) said 10 months ago:

Hi Jon and thank you. I took this on Market Street in San Francisco near the Embarcadero. The trolley travels pretty fast, so I had to grab this quickly. I stood where the light was good on the trolleys as they round the bend and hoped to get a good shot.

jvgphoto (jon van gilder) said 10 months ago:

It nearly always starts with the light! Great light followed by great grab! Thanks for sharing your work and your thoughts regarding creating good work.

Sincerely,
Jon

agme (Dmitry Antipov) added a critique 1 year ago:

well, I imagine something other than an Asian woman from Tibet-Mongolia.
Maybe that's why I didn't find the pic unsuccesful

Butter (Lukas K) added a critique 1 year ago:

I love the expression on her face...

Great pic.

ericfish said 1 year ago:

Thanks so much for your comments ^^
Uncommondepth's story is almost correct. This woman is from Sichuan (near Tibet). She was on her way to the Buddhism temple that day. She was taking a rest and making tibet butter tea beside the road. Although we cannot communicate in language, but her smile told me that she agree to let me take her picture.
jseligman and SeekingFocus, thanks for your advises. I will have a try.

agme (Dmitry Antipov) added a critique 1 year ago:

it's not the term
it's just the way I call it - it's the trick which was learnt by the artists even from the 16th century and so, certainly it appeared in early photography
3/4 means that its not 'pasport-headshot' strait and not a 'side-pic' - the persons head is turnt a little-bit to the right, as we see here too

Laurie (Laurie) added a critique 1 year ago:

I think I've seen this man somewhere before, I think I saw a picture of him somewhere practicing his craft. I'm almost positive in fact, I just wish I could remember where. Does he also do sculpture?

I like this classic portrait. Very nice.

jseligman (J Seligman) said 1 year ago:

His name is Newman and he owns Commedia Mask Company He has a large booth at the Oregon Country Fair every year. Maybe you saw him there. He does, in fact, sculpt too.

Laurie (Laurie) added a critique 1 year ago:

That is the same man I was thinking of, but it wasn't in Oregon. I think I saw something about him from a show in Canada. I seem to remember an article and a photo layout that someone had done...Maybe it was you that did the layout? I'm thinking it was someone else so forgive me if I am wrong.

jvgphoto (jon van gilder) added a critique 9 months ago:

Very wonderful portrait - great emotion and intelligence is communicated through your photo.

Best,
Jon

Goood. perfect as it is. well done

TheAntipodes (Menno van Zaanen) added a critique 11 months ago:

I'm not exactly sure what I'm looking at, but taking the picture as abstract, I really like it. The vagueness from the depth of field draws me in the picture and keeps me wondering what I'm looking at.

Beamer (Clyde Beamer) added a critique 11 months ago:

The Lensbaby looks like it would be fun to play with...how much of the distortion can you see thur the viewfinder or how much is trial and error??

Beamer (Clyde Beamer) added a critique 11 months ago:

BTW, I like this a lot!!

jvgphoto (jon van gilder) added a critique 9 months ago:

Great shot - wish i had a lensbaby - a lot of sports photographers use these now as a matter of course.

Best,
Jon

Thank you, Aurora (what a beautiful name!). I dreamed to see this for many years and I could make it only last year, but I was not disappointed!

I love shots like these...but like doilyboy said, I would add just a tad more light.

SUBJEKTIV (Sigrid Kleinecke & Kurt Tutschek) added a critique 1 year ago:

what a face! I'd also like to see a bit more of her hair, but it's an impressive portrait.

gazdi (Csaba Bobák) added a critique 1 year ago:

Worn minds in contrasty bw, it always works, isn't it? The task is to show this mind through the skin, and you did a great work here. Great shot.

jsmanseau added a critique 1 year ago:

great portrait.

oneye (Rodion Kovenkin) added a critique 1 year ago:

I dont like the blury figure. It distracts me.

kamaki (Christophe) added a critique 1 year ago:

The personne is a little bit too blury.
It's not necessary to put a personne; this landscape and its photography are beautiful enough.

schupin (Sylvain chupin) added a critique 1 year ago:

The blurry person could have it place here in response to the fog. But I think this picture would have been better without this guy.

philippe (Philippe Reichert) added a critique 1 year ago:

Well, I like the blurry figure.

;o)

InsertCoins (Sune Scheller) added a critique 1 year ago:

I don't if I'm the only one who have noticed that the persons right hand - in it's two main positions - sort of looks like a pair of eyes of creepy creature, witch is very small or is sitting down. It's awesome. And you gotta admit; that a creepy creature there is wearing snickers is a bit surreal.

Such a simple shot but it works so well, I love the colors.

doilyboy (Martin Grey Gottlieb) added a critique 1 year ago:

Terriffic. The color is great as is the DOF and clarity. Well done.

i love the colors, the size of them and the incredible dof, and i like the slight asymmetry.
Great work!

I agree with all of the above. It's really 'moving', the water, which makes it nice to look at!
