This land used to be available.
About 2 years ago they sold it to a company for the Deer Valley subdivisions.
Since then alley has worn of off the Vally leaving Deer vable!

It seems a bit bland all in all. I'd love to see this same shot, only swimming with color. I keep looking for something to jump out at me, but eyes remain busy over the entirety of the picture. I do LOVE the composition though. All in all, I'd say it's a great shot! :)
LifesMoments (Allison) added a critique 1 year ago:
I agree that this buildings at the top should be remover either by a clone tool or just a crop. I also think that addind a little contrast might make this "pop" a little more! Great shot otherwise!

Thanks for all the comments.
Composition was limited when shooting this as there is a 10x5 (foot) platform that you can shoot all of your pictures from.
I agree with some distracting elements but was unsure myself on how to crop it and still get the correct feel.
They do appear a bit bland a i agree a bit of contrast may fix this.
Thanks for all the comments.

I like it. I wish the water and the greens had more color. Just a thought...but maybe +10 saturation and play with the Unsharp Mask to see how it looks. I just wish more colors came out in the picture.
Nice shot by the way, I've ridden through there on the motorcycle many times.

Thanks for the comment.
The general critique on this is that i need more saturation.
I will do a repost so keep your eyes open!

Mike - A great find. I regret that the light on the painting does not highlight the actual painting. I also find the focus to be more on the painting than on the 3 lights...and find the painting to be blurry. I also find the photo to be a bit crooked. The texture is well highlighted on the wall which is a plus but I wish the 3 lights were equal in brightness and more the focus of the photo. Nice find and lovely concept.
aloha_photo (Jeff Sisemoore) added a critique 1 year ago:
You must have made this photo with a shallow DoF because the wall seems to be in focus, but the painting is not quite in focus...unless it's the character of the painting.

The sharpness was an issue.
the problem was that this was taken in the low light mode hand held in my grandparents basement.
I tried to rotate the picture but using gimp at work is a bit tricky when the angles are so little.

Wow, what is this? A kind of silo? You made this ugly things look great - maybe because of that great blue sky.
mikeock (Mike Adams) said 1 year ago:
Blumie,
Thanks for the comment.
I call this one "Fading History".
They are silos that are located on the south end of Twin Falls, ID.
They used to mill flour from what i can find, going off of the text from the faded painting.
I was lucky the blue turned out so well as I did not have any type of filter at this time!

That's really interesting. Looks kind of like rust mingled in with snow. What is it? Coll combo of colors and textures.
psychodudu (Andrew Parker) added a critique 1 year ago:
I think with images like this that are kind of macro type images you really need ro try and get as much of the central image in focus. The foreground being particularly distracting when not in focus. I do like the colour contrasts combined with the texture you have captured.
mikeock (Mike Adams) said 1 year ago:
Laurie,
It is almost the same as moss but was only growing on the headstones. The stark red color is what stood out to me.
Thanks for the comment.
psychodudu,
I agree with the focus.
I have issues one i put my camera into macro mode but am slowly getting better at the focus.
Thanks for the comment.

This is a historical site in Idaho called Star Ranch.
Used to be the homestead for a 450 acre farm.
The farm is still in existence to this day, but the homestead is no longer used!

I like this ... love the contrast ,if I did anything to it ..I would punch up the contrast in it .. since it is so lovely and rustic looking ...
very well done:)
Laurie (Laurie) added a critique 1 year ago:
I think the tones are well suited to the subject and the composition is good. I would love to see a bit more contrast though.
mikeock (Mike Adams) said 1 year ago:
Thanks for the comments.
I have a few other shots from another trip to this remote location.
I will try punching up the contrast before posting them!

There seems to be a lot of noise or grain in this image...as if it was made at night and you boosted the ISO. I think I would like the image better without it.
ikol22 (Fabrizio Zanelli) added a critique 1 year ago:
I don't like the noise (Jeff may be in right but could be a filter too) that doesn't "make old" the photo, if this was the point.
Laurie (Laurie) added a critique 1 year ago:
It looks like you added a texture filter to this image. I think it might be better without the filter since the subject itself has so much texture already.
mikeock (Mike Adams) said 1 year ago:
Thanks for the comments.
I added the texture to "age" the photo.
This is actually part of a series from the Idaho old state pen.
I thought the noise was a bit much but was unsure so I had to get other comments!
This is the same picture as before.
Tighter crop on the top and left.
Saturation boosted to 30.
