The Calatrava is always one of my favorite subjects. Beautiful shot. And good job not having any people in the picture-thats always a hard thing to do here!
kufever (Yvette) said 11 months ago:
Thanks to all.
And selaux - you're right it's very hard to get a shot without anyone in it. I was lucky that it was almost closing time!

I also wanted to tell you that if you need some help with that Holga, let me know. Im a student and we just finished getting to know her in class. I also resently bought my own and it came with an awesome book- I could scan a few pages and email them to you if you like!

i like the feel that at first glance the bench seems to be randomly located in the field
TerynYancey (Teryn Yancey) added a critique 1 year ago:
i think this is a wonderful photo! nicely done! possibly a different angle would also be great!

Thank you all for your wonderful words. I feel very good about them!

I love this shot... I just really really want to sit there. I also love the composition. The fact that the bench hides some of the scenery I don't mind so much. It tells me that I'm not there. In order to enjoy that scenery, I must sit down in that lovely bench.

i think this is a really cool find, and i love pictures with bikes...i think maybe what could have made the photo more interesting would have been a wider frame, including more of the setting, with the bike in the center or maybe even the corner. in that way the bicycle would still be the subject of the piece, but more could be included in the frame. that's how i would have shot it anyway
PhotoDaniels (Stephanie Daniels) added a critique 1 year ago:
THis is a great B&W! I would definately like to see a wider crop with the bike off to the right. Maybe even put a slight, slight s-curve to the photo to bring out some of the brick, too.
migtex (Miguel Teixeira) said 1 year ago:
Many thanks to all.
Raphshap if I understood right I should have step back and got a wider perspective, right?
tzirlott (Tom Zirlott) added a critique 1 year ago:
So that’s where my bike ended up. Nice picture with tones from black to white and everything in the middle. What is that white streak in front of the tire? If it is on the brick I would move the bike. It looks like dust.

Very lovely and conveys a great mood. Nice capture and beautiful grayscale.

Using an intervalometer, I shot 340 frames (8 sec | F/2.8 | 800 ISO | 16mm) with a Canon 5D over a 4-hour period. I stacked the exposures through a nifty piece of software called Startrails. The tree was lit briefly by cars leaving the area in the middle of the night resulting in this rather surreal composition.

this is really cool and i like how you composed the minimal trees with the snowy field. but i think it would be better with sky or another subject which i could catch...
TerynYancey (Teryn Yancey) added a critique 1 year ago:
beautiful. wouldnt change anything. i love how the trees stand out.
thoughtdujour (thought du jour) added a critique 1 year ago:
simple and beautiful. I would not change anything. I love how the snow has blanketed the land leaving no other character of the land, not the curvature of hills, the outcrop of rocks...just the trees.
wonderful.

Very pretty and dreamy. Almost makes me feel warm and cozy, if that makes any sense. I love the framing.
