It was taken on a cannon powershot sd750 point and shoot. I just got photo shop and was playing around.

The colors of the sky are incredibles!!!
jvgphoto (jon van gilder) added a critique 8 months ago:
With some judicious cropping this could still be a powerful shot - even with all the noise pollution.
Best,
Jon

I can't really add on to what has already been said...the colors are beautiful!

Very nice. You have such good instincts for cropping. I have absolutely none, zilch, zero... :)
dcrphotography (Daniel) added a critique 11 months ago:
ground color looks more natural in this one.

Wow, this is fantastic Beamer! I don't know that I'd have anything in the way of critique to say...but I would advise you to get to someplace dry :)
aloha_photo (Jeff Sisemoore) added a critique 11 months ago:
I like the processing on the sky and the land in this image better than the same photo in the earlier topic. Good drama in the sky. It keeps me transfixed. I have nothing negative to say...which is a good thing.

wow..I would've been afraid to take the picture :) Awesome shot!

Alittle to oversaturated color. you start to see artifacts.
Would make a great painting.
What kind of camera did you shoot this with?

WOW what awesome colour and contrast. Nice job.

This is a great shot with nice colours and a wonderful use of backlighting. I am guessing that this was taken at a kids' playground, making it all the more fun. My smile gets wider the longer my eyes wander around the frame. Thanks

This is so intriguing. At first I didn't like the shadow, but the more I looked at it, the more I started to love it.
Nice colours as well.

I had EXACTLY the same reaction as Kimberly. This is great!!

Lovely colors. Am not very sure about the shadow, but i love the tilt.

I find your HDR experiment realistic, and in that I congratulate you, because too often the effect is too supernatural for me. Good continuation.
warreagle (Amy Warr) added a critique 11 months ago:
beamer, i like all your shots. i can't think of anything to critique. the sky is my favorite in this one.
lightholder (Kimberly Lightholder) added a critique 11 months ago:
Lovely sky. All the colours are quite vibrant! My only thoughts (and I'm only writing them because I'm bored at work) are what might happen if you cropped just the tiniest bit off the bottom, just the shadow part? I also wonder if it could do with a bit sharpening, but again, my eyes are tired... don't listen to me. :)
KerriDoodle (Kerri) added a critique 9 months ago:
I think this does fit the topic well, but I find I'm very distracted trying to figure out why the cactus looks so unnatural on the right side (sun facing) where the sky meets the cactus. (You mentioned you did an HDR for this photo, and I don't know enough about it to use the right terminology to explain the color contrast in that area.)
Also, although typical, I would like it cropped portrait dimensions with just the three cactus (cacti?). Although the hills and mountains are pretty, I don't feel they add to the overall composition. I do like the gold tones from the sun.

Clyde,
What makes this a good shot is the comp. - colors are obviously good, but the comp really steals the show.
Best,
Jon

I really like this and the processing. It seems to have what I regard as typical HDR tones - almost as though you'd oversharpened it.
effraie added a critique 1 year ago:
impressive!
very strong composition, and original angle!

Very nice! Awesome perspective and detail in the arches and columns.
This picture makes me feel so uncomfortable...that's why I love it! I almost feel as if I could reach into my computer to the sky and touch it.

This is very pretty. I just think the framing/cropping could be more dramatic. If you crop the top 20% off the image and crop the right to loose the leaves in the lower right corner, I think you have a more interesting image, maybe even a little bit abstract. Just MHO...
lightholder (Kimberly Lightholder) added a critique 11 months ago:
Ooo, I agree with beamer, if you bring the crop on the left into the branch, it'll might help frame the image, making the yellow the subject... love how all aspects of the photo come in and out of focus.
blaze883r (Fernando Bordallo) added a critique 11 months ago:
Muy buena toma, si señor. Exposición medida para las hojas, que muestran un color que sugiere claramente el otoño, mientras dejamos los troncos subexpuestos para no restar protagonismo. Muy acertada, si señor! ;)
Pd. Creo que estoy en esta comunidad "por culpa" tuya! ;) (Gracias!)
saatchi (Albert Ferran) added a critique 11 months ago:

Nice work on this one - a little creative cropping and this would be a masterpiece! Great color and atmosphere.

Saludos
turkana (César) added a critique 11 months ago:
A mí me gusta mucho que te hayas centrado en las manos. La postura que adoptan las manos del redero son perfectas. Ese cruce, la posición aguja y las texturas conseguidas con la luz me parecen fantásticas.
Enhorabuena.
Me gustaría verla en ByN. Me gusta la fuerza y el dramatismo que en gente curtida como esta saca el blanco y negro.

the lights are very well, as expected as from a hdr-pic ;) i think those shadows of poeple and so are wanted... good pic!
lightholder (Kimberly Lightholder) said 1 year ago:
I'm so flattered! It's actually not an HDR but I'm glad you like it... It's a regular old one-shot prolonged expore and it's SOOC.

Beamer (Clyde Beamer) added a critique 11 months ago:
The image just kinda all runs together, mostly because of the similar hues. Did you try this in B&W with some curves work to pull out the building from the background??? Also, there is too much foreground, which is not adding anything. The handy scroll bar tester says crop just above the whitish line running slightly up hill to the right. This gives a more pleasing framing to me.
warreagle (Amy Warr) said 11 months ago:
thanks for the ideas...have not tried it in b&w. will do that.
lightholder (Kimberly Lightholder) added a critique 11 months ago:
I like the colours in this, but I agree, it needs a bit of seperation. You might consider a closer crop to help bring the focus to the building.
In addition, if you can re-shoot, maybe try lowering the camera angle to give the building a bit more perspective against the trees... :)
warreagle (Amy Warr) said 11 months ago:
thanks. i can reshoot--this is what's left of a greenhouse the previous owners had in my parents' backyard...they been in the house about 9 years now.
jvgphoto (jon van gilder) added a critique 8 months ago:
Just misses - great color and feel to this shot, but the composition is awkward and the trees growing out of the structure are really a distraction.
Best,
Jon
It's a beautiful photo, but it does appear to suffer from low resolution. Was it taken on a compact?
