Gorgeous. Your eye is so good. The shadows are dark, but actually like it that way. Its a piece of art, therefore subject to high contrast as part of the photographer's vision. I probably would have done the same... but I apparently am a big sucker for blown detail. :)

I'm brilliant btw. How are you? Incidentally, I think you should post this.

Love love love your style.

dcannaday added a critique 11 months ago:

Absolutley love this.. Didn't think it was great until I saw the big version. Very nice!

It is scary and it looks like the face of a hairy monster, it's intruiging

dcannaday added a critique 11 months ago:

Cool.. It does look like a very blured photo of a gorilla with it's mouth open and growling. grr :)

CodeRed (Cody Redmon) added a critique 11 months ago:

I think we're all on the same page on this one. Great shot...looks like miffed gorilla taking his/her revenge. You can almost see hair on its chest, and the impression of a clavicle. Nice, scary work, anke!

I have to say, I don't get this. Makes me wonder about the catagorie.

This is wonderful. The skin tone and the contrast are lovely. My preference would be to see a tiny bit more breathing room to the right of his eye before the shadow, but I'll bet shifting him in the light would cast less light on his left eye, which is exposed perfectly!!!

Lovely.

Beamer (Clyde Beamer) added a critique 11 months ago:

I've looked at this several time before commenting. It is a wonderfully intriguing image. Great capture. Not sure I would change anything, but if you have anymore image at the top, you might drop the face more towards the center of frame, show a little more forehead and a little less chinroom.

dreamer247 (Ben Godkin) added a critique 11 months ago:

Very Dramatic. Lighting adds alot to the mood of the image.

Udower (Udo Weier) added a critique 11 months ago:

Great shadow and light. Nice b/w

jrivera added a critique 2 months ago:

I really like the composition of this shot. It really speaks to the tone captured. I would not change a thing. Excellent use of light.

Hey everyone,
Thanks for the comments and the feature. As I mentioned, I was playing with toning and settled in where you see you it. Glad it seemed to work on some level.

lkol22: This is the airport in Seattle.

augusto (Augusto González) added a critique 9 months ago:

Buena composición, para mi también sobra el copete de la copa. Una pena los reflejos que hace el cristal, que el pie de la copa este algo desenfocado y que la copa este algo inclinada.

saatchi (Albert Ferran) added a critique 8 months ago:

Muy original la idea, me gusta el contraste de blanco y negro.

Quizas sobre un poco la parte superior, pero muy buena foto.

Felicidades.

turkana (César) added a critique 8 months ago:

Soy un poco repetitivo, pero quiero decirlo.
Me gusta la foto. La idea me parece muy buena, la resolución también, la luz, la exposición, la definición...
lo que me gusta menos es que el pie de la copa esté inclinado y que sobresalga un poco el contenido de la copa (aunque, esto último, quizás no sea tan malo).

En general me gusta y me parece que has tenido un buen control sobre la toma.

Sonoma added a critique 8 months ago:

Nice photo. Love the black background, it adds so much to the colors in the subject here.

Very beautiful work on this one! I agree with Clyde in regards to the space at the top of your photo. Excellent shot!

Best,
Jon

Beamer (Clyde Beamer) added a critique 11 months ago:

This is a GREAT capture, I like the framing/cropping. The subject is great. It does, however, feel flat and that greatly reduces the impact. This could really jump off the screen at you with just a little bit of PS work on levels and saturation. Also, could be really nice as a "punchy" B&W.

Ohhh, so close!!

boyd added a critique 11 months ago:

I like the understated nature of this shot with such a lot going on - colour, texture, tone. Very well conceived and spot on framing.

lightholder (Kimberly Lightholder) added a critique 11 months ago:

Love it! Fantastic composition. I agree with beamer, a slight punch in colours might make it really stand out.

Panoramix5 added a critique 11 months ago:

Really nice!!! It's seems so real as if you were there! Plain and smooth backgrond brings all texture and color from the objects to the front. Almost 3D.

Hanssie (Hans Stellingwerf) added a critique 4 months ago:

Maybe some more sharpness but I really like these details !

Pixim (Eric) said 9 months ago:

Thank you for your opinions, I try to develop with Capture Nx (Nikon) and to use the U-points, I have progress to make (indeed, the halo is too visible)

@Matth Oui ça penche, mais les "invalides" m'ont rendu fou, j'ai l'impression qu'il penche à gauche. Promis j'arrête tout d'ici peu.
Greetings.

jasonkravitz (Jason Kravitz) added a critique 9 months ago:

great colors and composition. To avoid the halo, you may be able to create two layers and carefully paint one on top of the other. A bit of an an intensive process but a good way to get rid of noticeable halo.

lightholder (Kimberly Lightholder) added a critique 9 months ago:

Beautiful shot! My only thought is I wonder if cropping the top and bottom into more of panorama might help the impact? But it's only MHO. LOVE the colours. Where was that taken?

Pixim (Eric) said 8 months ago:

This shot was taken in Paris, they are "les invalides". Thank you for your comments and your councils.

Hanssie (Hans Stellingwerf) added a critique 4 months ago:

A well-known buidling but placed in another view (always nice to see that), you did a wonderful job ! The weather helped you in a nice way:-))

Is that Yosemite? Look like it. :) I like this B/W better, there's more tonal range and i love how the horizon is in complete fog. My only thought is the white in the corner is a bit distracting, but sometimes that's just the way it goes.

I wish i was there... *sigh*

Beamer (Clyde Beamer) said 7 months ago:

This is San Antonio Falls near Claremont, CA on the slopes of Mt. San Antonio (a.k.a. Mt. Baldy). Lot's of rain the night before and was just starting to snow as I left. This was taken this past weekend.

jvgphoto (jon van gilder) added a critique 7 months ago:

I like this shot - nice comp., but would love to see it in color. Not sure how it is strengthened through b&w. Good job!

photoaholic (Geoffrey Reynertz) added a critique 6 months ago:

i love this shot
i know the topic is fog but i'd like to see it with a different crop a little less in the bottom and a little less a the top that's said it's still a really great shot
just because i'm curious i, also, would like to see the original colors

LeStro added a critique 5 months ago:

I like that we cannot see the top... makes you wonder how tall the fall is. I think B&W is perfect for this shot.
Thanks for your comment on my photo.

Nice shoot

It's an old structure, of course there's gonna be a little tilt. Not everything has to be straight. I love it, and the colors are great.
