Beautiful picture! The B&W is a great choice. I am drawn into the scene, and yet so much is hidden that I have no idea what I am drawn into. I find it emotionally intense.
Thanks also for your comment on my barn photo, Beamer.

Very nice!

Beamer (Clyde Beamer) said 4 months ago:

Thanks guys, this one hangs on my wall. One of my fav places in the world, Joshua Tree NP in California. This was taken @5am at first light and the waning crescent moon rising. I had been star gazing all night and fallen asleep in a chair. 3 coyotes woke me @4:30am singing to each other triangulating on me. Suddenly they stopped and then I noticed that the moon had just appeared above the horizon. This was taken about 15 minutes after that. It was impossible to get the moon sharp, it moves too fast even for high ISO exposure like this. It always seems to be smeared or glowing. In reality this was the very smallest sliver of a crescent moon, probably the last morning before the new moon. I actually thought I was there on the new moon night, best time for Milky Way watching.

I like it. Whether it is out of focus or something is giving a blurry edge I think it conveys a nice soft & sensual image. Very well done.

Except for blur and the crop, everything is nice, especially the reflected light on the front body. This kinda shots require a perfect focus, because the shadows which will be blurry because of the length between the object and the item which makes the shadow. If you leave the object behind the shadows blurry, it won't look good. I don't know if it is your style, but why you have cropped from the jaw? Anyway, this is a good shot, don't get me wrong :)

jellybino (Robyn Shaw) added a critique 10 months ago:

I love it. Very clever. I think that the focus is perfect.

Amazing image. It made me just stop and think "WOW" in big glowing red capital letters!
I disagree with the comments saying it's oversaturated, I think it goes pretty well with the "epic" mood.

Thank you, everyone! Yes, this was shot from my very cramped coach seat on a commercial airline. I just managed to be in the right seat (behind the wing) on the right side (actually the left) at the right time of day (just after dawn) and managed to get the shot as we circled around over the ocean after takeoff. After the last time I'd had an early morning flight out of LAX I swore I'd never fly without my camera again! I got some other nice shots during the flight, but this was the magic moment.

grahambo (Graham Siebe) added a critique 1 year ago:

I really like this too.

On a technical note, I wish the top of the rail wasn't quite blown out, but it doesn't detract much because the photo isn't about the detail.

I also wonder how this would look in b&w.

Did (Didier Toulouze) added a critique 1 year ago:

I love the perspective and the colors too. This is a great picture.
I only regret the rail is not starting in the bottom right corner and I wonder why there is vignettting on the left but not on the right.

MMeye (Martine) added a critique 1 year ago:

Wow... Nice shot and very good pp. It's dreamful, excellent !

Just a point : the horizon line is a bit tilting (0,90°). I surely don't want to bother you with this in such a good pic, but I suspect I have a 'level tool' (sorry I don't know the exact word) in my eyes and this is often the first default I see in a picture ;-)

nrcowlishaw (Nathan Cowlishaw) said 1 year ago:

MMeye, The landscape and horizon are not flat themselves...
