Great perspective and a good HDR.
What really appeals to me is the symmetry between the sky and the grass/leaves with contrasting blue/yellow. Tractor blends nicely with the grass, too.
20seven (Greg Newman) said 2 months ago:
Thank you nfds. That's one of the things that hit me immediately when i saw the tractor.
HuubL added a critique 2 months ago:
Great wide angle perspective. I don't agree with the negative critiques about the use of HDR here. I've seen worse examples :). Nevertheless, I agree that the image would probably equally nice without HDR.
20seven (Greg Newman) said 2 months ago:
Thanks HubbL.
Once again, it blows my mind how many of you think this is HDR. This image is NOT hdr.

Nice shot, The light is coming through perfectly to show the empty space.
aloha_photo (Jeff Sisemoore) added a critique 6 months ago:
You've used the light well in this image, giving this space a welcome feel to it.

Hmmm, maybe I don't have a prejudiced opinion about the composition of the arch becouse to me it is not familiar. I have never seen a photo of it. I don't know how the whole arch looks likes and how it could be showed diffrent.
Neuner said 6 months ago:
Thanks for the comments. I thought I had captured the boat in time before it got behind the arch but all of this was rather difficult to put together since I had to shoot through thick plexi-glass with a lot of glare. I was pushing the lens up to the glass to avoid as much of the distortion as possible. Seeing the arch everyday and almost always in its entirety for photos, I wanted to capture it in the different way. I tried to use the arch to draw the eye down from the sky to the river and finally it's base.
jvgphoto (jon van gilder) added a critique 6 months ago:
I'm with Clyde in regards to the arch - for me, it's a big distraction. The subject here is the light - it's wonderful!!
Best,
Jon
willie_901 (william) added a critique 6 months ago:
I live near the Arch. I have seen more Arch photos than you can imagine. This one is original and shows the Arch in context. The composition is more creative than people can imagine.
If this is highly altered in post-processing, you did a nice job of not over doing it.
If there is no HDR/psuedo HDR manipulation, than you caught the light at the perfect moment with perfect exposure.
Anyway, this is one of the best Arch photos I've seen.
JBridges (Jim Bridges) added a critique 3 months ago:
It's an interesting photo in the context of the Arch. It's not one of the standard views of it and the emphasis seems to be more on the surroundings than the arch itself. (Personally I find this interesting as I had no idea what the surroudings were like and did not expect what one sees on the other side of the river.)
Is it a phenomenal picture? Not quite. I am not sure what the missing ingredient is here. It would be nice if the boat were not behind the Arch. But the light really is nice. And, as I say, it's interest is in contextualizing the Arch rather than focusing on it.

wery nice work.
At least, i think it could be better by dopping colors a bit, a cropping (half picture?) on the flower and the bee.

GarrettHall (Garrett Hall) added a critique 3 months ago:
Really interesting photo. As far as criticism goes, I would try to make the flower stick out a little more. My eye wants to go to the bud rather than the flower/bee. Also, the flower petals don't have much depth.

He is amazed at everything. This is his first climb, I bet he cant wait to do so much more. Very nicely captured.
Beamer (Clyde Beamer) added a critique 4 months ago:
Very nice capture Jon, I love the expression and the tension too!! The composition feels a bit heavy on the right. This is probably a tough situation for perfect framing, but would be better to have more room along the eyeline and less behind the head.
HuubL added a critique 4 months ago:
Excellent capture indeed. The tension in the boys face is great. Decisive moment!

Nice bird... but the whole photo I don't like. Sorry!
mikeock (Mike Adams) added a critique 5 months ago:
Very nice focus on this bird!
I really like the bird. I keep seeing the great blue herons in flight around here but have yet to be able to capture one yet.
Great job.
I agree with the debris removal on the right!
Beamer (Clyde Beamer) added a critique 5 months ago:
The problems with this image are 2, imo:
The composition is a bit too wide, crop off about 1/4 of the right and loose the dark bit at the edge and the bright spot in the water right along the eyeline
The tonal range is just a bit too flat, especially on the water, juice it up just a little.
GarrettHall (Garrett Hall) added a critique 4 months ago:
I'd like to see this photo a bit wider: crop off the top so that the space above the birds head is about equal to the bird's head itself.
Passing time? :)
(sorry, bad joke I couldn't resist.)
