Mark,
Great work on this one - very special. By the way, do you know Thomas Hawke? Just curious.
Best,
Jon

Thank you lolly. Jon, my apologies for taking three months to respond, but candidly, I do not stop here too often anymore. I do not know who Thomas Hawke is. Do I owe him money? ;-)

Enhorabuena por esta fotografía, la mirada de este hombre expresa una emoción muy fuerte, que usted ha sabido captar y tramistir con su cámara.
Felicidades. Saludos

This is very nice, but...
I wonder what it would look like if the entire background was black??? Bet I would like it...
Ladybug (Lisa Ruokis) said 1 year ago:
I like the bit of white on the right. What a gorgeous capture.
TracyMartin (Tracy Martin) said 1 year ago:
To me the top of the bass would have had far less impact if the background was all black, this way it really brings out the shape.

superbe, une forme de damier. La contrebassiste ressort tres bien avec ce b&w.

Martine and Jon, thanks so much for your comments. This was taken at this year's Cherry Blossom Festival in Japan Center San Francisco. This elegant hand belongs to the most senior of the tea servers.

what a beautiful shot !
I really like the atmosphere you captured with this one. and the tone is perfect.
great composition.

Thanks Ingrid for your comment. My favorite aspect of this image is the drop on the ladle.
calisto said 3 months ago:
I must confess, I fell in love with this one at first view. this picture gives me a special sensation of calm and elegance.
kitaoka (Mark Kitaoka) said 3 months ago:
Thank you calisto. The woman who owns these hands and the skill to do the tea ceremony is more elegant than I can portray in an image.

Mark,
Beautiful work - I can't add anything worthwhile, I'm afraid. Wonderful.
Good light and Good luck,

Hi Jon and thank you. I took this on Market Street in San Francisco near the Embarcadero. The trolley travels pretty fast, so I had to grab this quickly. I stood where the light was good on the trolleys as they round the bend and hoped to get a good shot.
jvgphoto (jon van gilder) said 8 months ago:
It nearly always starts with the light! Great light followed by great grab! Thanks for sharing your work and your thoughts regarding creating good work.
Sincerely,
Jon

You've caught a great moment in this image. I also like the tonal range in this one. Well seen and photographed.

Mark,
Nice shot in a situation where the lighting looks a little tricky - the subject matter really holds the interest of the viewer. One of my favorites.
Cheers,
Jon

Sad, happy, depressed, joyful! Many feelings in this picture and that is what I like.
You've 'caught' her beautifully...and his inquisitiveness! ;o)
