I'm generally not a fan of selective sauration at all. It seemed so obvious to simply choose the primary dancer in the foreground and apply selective saturation - I was going for a more subtle effect, but may have failed completely in that effort! This probably works best as a b&w.
Thanks for your comments,
Jon

Additionally, this was rejected by onexposure for being too busy - although, i was attempting to portray a busy dance studio! So maybe this photo doesn't work at all:-) At least, I got a sale from the owner of the studio. Life ain't all bad - just the photo, I suppose.
Best,
Jon

Jon, don't talk yourself down... I'm almost ashamed but imo it isn't bad at all. O.K, it's busy but it suites the subject. Maybe it isn't beautifull on a classical way, but it certainly is something different.

Tamara,
Thanks for your thoughts - you made my day:-) Clearly, every photo is not everyone's cup of tea. I'm always amazed by what clients end up buying and sometimes rejecting. Many times what I consider to be my best work is passed over in favor of a shot that to me was a throw-a-way. I like the above photo, but knew it would be a tough sell for some.
Best,
jon

I love the action and flow of this, but the treatment does call a lot of attention to itself. To me that's the rule, if I find myself looking at the treatment/technique rather than the subject, then the treatment has failed...

Clyde - I'm in agreement with your rule - well stated.
Cheers,

interesting postprocessing, but i think colour or bw would be cooler here. i'm not a friend of colour experiments!

I like the idea. You have strong contrasting colours for a black and white but this image would have benefitted from a more selective use of colour. As suggested, perhaps just the one person.

Nice capture and beautiful frame... but I have some problems with the colorization in post-prod.

I don't mind the partial saturation, although the yellow in it is a little disturbing. It possibly is intensified by the blue. What I do like is the square pattern of the shining tiled floor contrasting with the circling dancing girls. It's supposed to be dynamic and should be busy.

the combination of color and bw does not help this photo perhaps if only one of the girls was in color instead of different parts of different girls
