Beamer (Clyde Beamer) added a critique 2 months ago:

The tonal range of this image is a little thin. The highlights are blown out and the darks are not "punchy" The image comes across a little dull. The DoF is nice and I like the refection!!

mikeock (Mike Adams) added a critique 2 months ago:

Very good attempt.
I agree with the above comments.
This is really a wonderful idea that just needs a little bit of exposure help!
Great job.... Let see you re-shoot if possible!

apsk121 (Angad Kingra) added a critique 2 months ago:

Nice. A little wider perhaps and with all of the car in focus?

boyd added a critique 2 months ago:

I have to agree with the comments above. I like the point of view here and it is well on the way to being a very strong shot.

I really like this shot. I just wish it were a little sharper. But I think it was shot fine, just needs a little PP.

jodosh (Johnny Haddock) said 4 months ago:

the lack of sharpness is actually grain from using ISO 800 film. This was taken with my Nikon f1. I digitized it with my d80. I can sent you the raw file to see what you can do, but I can't get it any sharper with my pp skills.

Fabulous sky/sunset shot...I love how you can see the sun peaking through the clouds!

jodosh (Johnny Haddock) said 1 year ago:

thanks a lot for the critiques

Sher (Sher Hilliard) added a critique 1 year ago:

I think this shot is great. I do agree the top should be cropped a bit as I feel it takes away from the detail of the darker clouds and sun. It is a very nice photo nonetheless. Good work!

jodosh (Johnny Haddock) said 1 year ago:

if anyone is intrested I uploaded a cropped image here vazaar.com/topic:skyscapes/responses/response:375/

remirol (Andy Lorimer) said 6 months ago:

Yea I really like the new picture that is cropped from the top, focuses you back to the great sunset!!! :)keep the shutter clicken :)

My wife reminds me that she took this while I was playing hockey with the kids.

jvgphoto (jon van gilder) added a critique 6 months ago:

Nice composition and great blues! I bet you (not the wife) cropped it, though. You might think about cleaning up some of the spots behind the boy's head.

Best,
Jon

boyd added a critique 6 months ago:

I agree with Jon that the blues are striking here and bring out the best in the eyes. I think that the idea for the composition is great, and could even be skewed more by having the boy's body coming more from the bottom right of frame.

Beamer (Clyde Beamer) added a critique 6 months ago:

I like the context of this created by the wide compo, but I sorta want to seen the face featured more. Maybe you don't need the lower torso and the lower end of the hockey stick?

remirol (Andy Lorimer) added a critique 6 months ago:

Ah memories, wasnt to long ago my son was there in that picture!! They grow up quick enjoy!!! caught the imagination of my old hockey days as well keep the shutter clicken!!!! :)

Overall it is a good composition. I think if it had more tonal curves, it would be an excellent composition.

Ramon (Alex Ramon) added a critique 1 year ago:

I am a big fan of classic car shots like this one. I agree with others that the tone and contrast could be deeper, but overall I like the feel of this!

Beamer (Clyde Beamer) added a critique 1 year ago:

Did anybody mention the contrast ratio???
Yeah, a little flat, but nice.

Bothers me a little that it's cropped so tight to the bumper on the left.

Did you shoot any more down the side of the car, a little more straight on?

Love the rock holding back this chargin' fast car, it's just waiting roll away!!

jodosh (Johnny Haddock) said 1 year ago:

Thanks everyone for the comments.

I agree with you all, the contrast is a touch low.

@Beamer - yea I wish I had a bit more space on the left, unfortunately this is a digital picture of an 8x10 print from film taken with my nikon f1 with B&W film. I think this angle is the best option because of what is in the background around it, I had to get a little creative to hid some unsightly problems.

nrcowlishaw (Nathan Cowlishaw) added a critique 1 year ago:

My only advice would have been to include more space in the frame to the left. It looks to clipped there, but great image all around. I really enjoy the trees in the background, and the sepia...

I was waling through Zürich when I got tired so I sat on a bench by the water, lucky for me someone decided that was a good place to hide their bike. I am not really sure how one would go about PSing this to bring the bike out, any ideas?

VernonTrent (Vernon Trent) added a critique 1 year ago:

Im with V.T. Play with the Levels.

taikrixel (thomas mueller) added a critique 1 year ago:

yes, some contrast or palying with the levels and the image works much better.

jodosh (Johnny Haddock) said 1 year ago:

Thanks for the recomendations, and special thanks to Jason for helping me out with the PS, I didn't like anything I was able to come up just by playing with the levels.
