Wow nice photo. Was Orion added post production?

duncmc (Duncan McMillan) said 1 year ago:

Thanks againt to everyone for your comments.

@ caryscott – There was very little post production on this. Orion wasn’t visible when I took the picture because of the mist over the river, but the longe exposure alllowed the stars to burn through. Other than adjusting the white balance in RAW and using a second exposure layer to enhance detail in the underside of the bridge, this is as shot.

Emotional take there.
Is that a bandage on your hand?
This picture makes me kinda sad.
In a good way I guess.

jeninja-inja (Jenine Lindeque) said 1 year ago:

yip bandage, hurt my hand carrying film rolls around for this big production i was working on. Fanx for the comment!

Very nice shot.
the lighting is excellent.
I like the right eye in shadow as it leaves a bit of wonder in the image.

AndreiMorar (Andrei Morar) added a critique 1 year ago:

Superb colours and ligting.

Nothing to really critique.

Congratulations!

Jondor (Gerhard Hoogterp) added a critique 1 year ago:

A stunning image. Mostly symmetrical but for the flowers which gives it a bit of tension.
As for two minor nitpicks; a little more dof so the right flower would be sharp too and maybe a tent to control the reflections on the vase.

aperture (Suvir Venkataraman) added a critique 1 year ago:

Excellent tones. I like the crispness of the image. Though the harsh reflections on the vase are a bit distracting, so a slightly more diffuse light source might work better.

extrajection (David Hawkins-Weeks) added a critique 1 year ago:

Superb lighting and love the symmetry. Very difficult to find anything that could be improved upon, would endorse Jondor's comments above, beautiful work!

AngryBuddha (Sean Bailey) added a critique 1 year ago:

Great lighting and detail. This deserved a feature.

philippe (Philippe Reichert) added a critique 1 year ago:

The subject (where is this building? Shanghai?), light and composition are nice but, as it was mentioned before, the picture is a bit soft, and the sky is really noisy. What camera did you use? Have you tried a gaussian blur filter or noise ninja, then sharpen through lab color?

philippe (Philippe Reichert) added a critique 1 year ago:

From your profile, I guess it must be Seoul?

Paulforrester (Paul Forrester) said 1 year ago:

Hi Phillipe, these impressive structures are the Petronas towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malayasia. I took the shot through glass and it had started raining. I am not sure what i can do about the noise in the sky. I will try the gaussian blur filter and sharpening in Lab Colour-thanks for the tip. The camera used-Cannon 400D.

Cheers!

philippe (Philippe Reichert) added a critique 1 year ago:

You can also use a tool like Noise Ninja.

Paulforrester (Paul Forrester) said 1 year ago:

Cool, thanks again!

I'm just discovering this one (so many pics here!): wonderful, magical, surreal, I'm lacking of vocabulary. I'm surprised it's not featured yes.
My first feeling was: Alice has grown up!

This is great. The sunset's subtle tones are perfect with these silhouettes. What and where are these?

iko (Olivier Petit) said 1 year ago:

It's a picture taken at sunrise of Tonga Riki, a site on Rapa Nui (Eastern island). These silhouettes are Moai statues.

I like the texture of the background. Besides this, I don't really know what I can say about this shot.

veronicalynne (veronica lynne) added a critique 1 year ago:

I think this is a very nice macro shot. I'm uncertain of the definition of minimalism so I can't really speak to that topic. However, the colors are rich and I too like the texture in the background.

spherop (Daniel Newman) said 1 year ago:

i would venture that minimalism is defined mostly by simplicity ...artful use of it (hopefully ;))

psychodudu (Andrew Parker) added a critique 1 year ago:

If I could be so bold. I would suggest that you clone out the black parts in the background. I see what you are trying to achieve, but it's so blurred that it needs to be a uniform white, imho. Otherwise, a fantastic idea, and I praise your ingenuity.

cashleym (Ashley Tanner) added a critique 1 year ago:

Nice detail in the photo.

iko (Olivier Petit) added a critique 1 year ago:

I like the zooming effect even if it's a little too much here (mostly because, there's no subject in the center). Too bad that the "palais des doges" (too lazy too look for the proper translation) cast so large a shadow on the place.

Pi-Production (Eric Rousset) said 1 year ago:

You're right Olivier, thanks for ur comment.
Cheers.Eric

AndreiMorar (Andrei Morar) added a critique 1 year ago:

I would have preferred to have some kind of still points in the image. Maybe if you kept the building sharp and blurred the people.

cashleym (Ashley Tanner) added a critique 1 year ago:

Very interesting. I like the set up, however it is a little blurry for me. Almost makes me dizzy! But I can see the boats right in the center are almost sharp, which helps. Maybe if there was more of a focal point it would make a difference! Still very nice though.
