Cool! I like the contrast between the green, blue and black. It's also a really great composition, with those lines in the grass. The gardon-long does break the scene on a good way.

Furthermore I have no idea what they are doing, I guess it's baseball or American football or something? Are they signing with their hands?

This is the beginning of a Major League Baseball game and the ground keepers are listening to the United States National Anthem. Thanks for commenting!

For a moment, when I didn't see the topic yet, I was confused about how you did this. Nice idea!

Only thing is, the girl (your daughter, I presume?) isn't in focus. Maybe it's an idea to use this for a selective-saturation project?

hampshire said 8 days ago:

Hey Tamara! Thanks for liking the idea...I kind of hate my point and shoot because of the focus issue...but I don't have the time in my life to really get into the SLR photography. But I can't wait and I live through photographers like you!

Where's the ball?

sfkp (Tamara) said 1 month ago:

I hope he missed it and didn't hit it :P Looks painful, otherwise.

Be careful about putting images on the web of major league sports. Most tickets (you should check the back of yours) have a disclaimer strictly prohibiting any reproduction of the game outside of the ballpark without written permission from Major League Baseball or the home team's ballpark.

I love the moment, the expression. Just not sure of this treatment for this subject. Color would emphasize the moment, the context. Stronger tonal range, more contrast would emphasize the action and excitement of the moment. Also, a bit of a shame about cutting the mother's head in half.

jvgphoto (jon van gilder) added a critique 2 months ago:

Maybe crop the mother out altogether and leave the blonde hair and waving hand - personally, I like the black and white.

Cheers,
Jon

GarrettHall (Garrett Hall) added a critique 1 month ago:

I agree that cropping the mother's face out and increasing the contrast would help. The crop will also showcase the two boys making very different faces.
