oui j'aurais aussi supprimé toute la partie supérieure pour une photo plus abstraite

the reflection and the lamp post are certainly competing for attention
i am very interested in the use of color
i would like to see it cropped where the lamp is not in the center

Good idea, especially the composition and shallow DOF. It's hard to choose between color and b&w, but I think I like the b&w more. I love the reflections of the black keys!
Only minus imo: the reflection on the wooden board. I don't know for sure, but maybe a polarisation filter can prevent that (I'm experimenting with different kinds of filters myself at the moment).

Great picture. I like the B&W, but i think i like the colour better.

This is a wonderful image. In my opinion would be even better if 2 cm from the top is cropped out.

For me the color wins hands down - very beautiful work on this photo.
Cheers,
Jon

i also like the color one better but the white balance seems to be slightly off (too much blue)
i like the reflection in the keys
i also agree that you should try to crop out the top

I like the texture that you have captured with the back of the truck. Can't help but think that the whole composition could be a little tighter - perhaps a crop of the plain dirt at the bottom might balance it a little better and take the truck a little more off centre (but what would I know???).
luan (Luan Huynh) added a critique 2 months ago:
I agree with boyd's comment. I think you should sharpen the truck a bit too...
Bastian (Bastian Löhrer) added a critique 1 month ago:
The perspective/composition are boring, the sky is washed out. I think there is a great potential in this object, but the execution is not so good.

I'm curious now about your monitor calibration?? This and the new Joshua Tree pano both have a similar "thin" tonal range. Do these images look "rich" and contrasty on your monitor?
sfkp (Tamara) said 1 month ago:
Only thing I know my monitor is really old (it has nearly a wooden wrapper). But yeah, I like this image becouse of its great contrasts. I agree the Joshua Tree pano is a bit flat.

So awesome...if I had to make a critique I'd crop the pen out at the top. Love it though!

such a fun photo!! I can't really add any critique, great job!

I like the projection of a human trait onto an animal. It's cute
Beamer (Clyde Beamer) added a critique 1 month ago:
Ugh, cats!! Cute, the pen is a bit distracting, but I guess this wasn't posed...

The reflection is beautiful, but none of it really seems in focus. It kind of has a washed out feel as well, but I love the angle and how it disintegrates as it nears the left side. Well done :)

When I comment I always think..would I buy this photo for my house...although I love the composition..it looks too gray or too light.
mooch added a critique 1 month ago:
Yes, I would agree with the above. The symmetry is very appealing, the post processing lacks punch though.
To post process black and white my preferred method is via the channel mixer. Convert to grayscale (i think, from memory here) and then adjust. You're looking for black blacks and white whites.
Beamer (Clyde Beamer) added a critique 1 month ago:
boyd, how are you scanning your film? They do all seem to have a bit of an odd tonal range. If you have control of a a tone curve while scanning you might want to take another look at some of these.
I like the composition and cropping of this, nice choice.

Very serene feeling here. I think the whole thing about always having something in the foreground of landscapes is way overrated. This has a great feel, very nice exposure, great colors.
If you want a suggestion to possibly make it better, try cropping off about 10-15% of the top, just above the darker clouds. Might give a bit more expansive feel.

Thanks for all the comments and suggestions - much appreciated as always!
Best to all,

I agree with misu here. Something is missing. Some focal point. Great colors and scene, but it all lacks that certain punch. Also, beamer may be onto something with the crop suggestion. Although I would be careful not to put the horizon in the center of the frame. That might be a bigger mistake.

The over exposed background is competing hard for attention. I think the tree and the ivy is a very nice subject, you should go back and explore it more. Maybe a low angle at a different time of day??
jvgphoto (jon van gilder) added a critique 2 months ago:
I like the composition, but the background is too dominant and spoils the beautiful tree in the foreground - at least, for me.
Best,
Jon

Too green for me...and a bit washed out...I am sure it was beautiful in person...hard to capture
Oh, sorry I wasn't clear. I like the second one more.
Of, als je Vlaams bent gewoon in het Nederlands: De tweede vind ik mooier :) (ik zag net pas dat u uit België komt en gezien uw achternaam vermoed ik dat u Vlaams bent).
