Perhaps when Brandon offers the before/after features I will upload some other versions. You know when you get tired of looking at a photo? This is one of those for me :) Thanks for the kind comment though. Good to see that it is still getting views.

I have to agree with BioLarzen...;-) Excellent shot.

Wonderful!!! He looks unbelievably

duncmc (Duncan McMillan) added a critique 1 year ago:

Congrats on the feature Jamie. Well deserved.

psychodudu (Andrew Parker) added a critique 1 year ago:

This is a little too "warts an all" in terms of lighting. A little retouching wouldn't go amiss. It's a cheeky little image though, and is deserving of it's feature status.

A bit of lens correction on this to get the verticals straight and this would have been a cracking shot! Colours and tone are good.

MarkDM (Mark Dodge Medlin) said 1 year ago:

Yeah, I couldn't quite get the lines straight. I'm still pretty happy with it, though. Thanks for your comments.

Glad to see this on the feature page...certainly deserved it.

sly100100 (Sam Lamp) added a critique 1 year ago:

nice shot, I really like the angle it plays off the fence and snow well. I like it in b&w, I think it works better than it would in color. Well done!

thanks for the comment duncmc. much appreciated.

i assure you there is no photoshop magicwork on this image. i shot it with a 200mm f/4 nikkor macro at the widest aperture.

dominik (Dominik Fusina) said 1 year ago:

I agree with the above. Seems to centered. I do like the exposure and colors.

pavankvn added a critique 1 year ago:

Very nice capture, but I'd rather crop differently.

bbonner (Bonner Photographic) added a critique 1 year ago:

If you are going to keep the subject in the middle you might think of cropping the image as a horizontal panoramic. Just a thought.

sly100100 (Sam Lamp) said 1 year ago:

Bbonner,
can you give an example? I am not entirely sure I know what you mean.
Thanks for the comments everyone. This is such a great site and all the criticisms really do help.

Paulforrester (Paul Forrester) added a critique 1 year ago:

very nice long exposure-i think what bbonner is trying to say is to crop the open spaces on either side of the subject-which i tend to agree with. this shot is an awesome idea

uncommondepth (Roberta Murray) added a critique 1 year ago:

The colors and composition of this are very nice. I especially love the colors. The blur is nice too, but I think I might have positioned it differently within the frame. I am assuming this was done with a Lensbaby or tilt-shift lens. I think with these lens the blur can be used to lead the eye into the frame, or to lead us to the subject.

In this image I think the blur should have lead our eye up the hill to the castle ruins; and would have been better positioned in the lower right corner. However, I still like this image because the colors are so very cheerful.

dcrphotography (Daniel) added a critique 1 year ago:

Lovely colors and interesting blur

guffy (Stefan Karlstrom) added a critique 1 year ago:

Nice lensbaby action right there. I like how the castle is actually not in focus. The colors of the sky and flowers are very intense.

I should take out my little lensbaby for this topic!

birba (Roberto Pagani) added a critique 1 year ago:

Did you use the Lensbaby? The effect is very nice

duncmc (Duncan McMillan) said 1 year ago:

Thanks for all the comments – this was taken with a Lensbaby Original.

I do like the colours, and I kinda liked the fact that there was no obvious subject, but I wasn't sure whether that worked. Opinion seems to be divided.

I like the detail of the veins in the leaf, but I agree that greater contrast would make the image more vibrant.

SusanJones (Susan Jones) said 1 year ago:

Thanks for the helpful feedback you guys, much appreciated. I know exactly what you are talking about, the contrast etc. I have to get a handle on that aspect yet, I'll learn.
Thanks again!

miniTotoro (Natalie) added a critique 1 year ago:

I like the detail and overall composition of the image. I think that is done very well. Perhaps just a wee bit more contrast. I like the monochrome, if the color version had the leaf being one vibrant color and the background another, that would have been good too I think.

Paulforrester (Paul Forrester) added a critique 1 year ago:

i agree with miniTotoro-and would love to see this in color-and this picture does not suck by any means

birba (Roberto Pagani) added a critique 1 year ago:

This is great. Well done
