joli portrait mais le détourage se voit un peu trop

I don't know what to think of this one, it gives me a strange feeling. We are not used to look at 'soft' portraits of men. It feels over-postprocessed, but in a nice way. Technical spoken, you did a great job. I have never made such a good portrait like this one and I can't pp like this. But it doesn't suites the subject.
On the other way... thinking 'out of the box' is necessary from time to time!

I like the treatment and the composition of this shot. I am drawn to the subject's eys, which works well, and you have captured nice detail in his face and hat, well done.

Thanks to all for the comments. They give me an idea of how people respond to this treatment which I can make use of. So thanks.

Great, gauzy and glowing effect - I like it.

Best,
Jon

Thanks, Jon. I'm playing with it. I kinda like it on one hand and on the other, I miss the sharpness of a good portrait. The beauty of digital I guess!

He looks like he needs to have a cigar in his fingers... Like has been said above the technique is a little off somehow, imo. My rule of thumb is: if I find myself thinking about the technique when I am first looking at a photograph instead of thinking of the subject/story, then the technique has failed. It has called too much attention to itself. And, I must tell you, that is what happened when I first looked at this image. Only today, after having looked at this several times over the past few weeks, did I think of the cigar thing...
