This is quite nice, and the bichromatic effect works very well. I especially like the glass reflection.

On a technical note, it seems that the file has been resized using Lightroom. There are visible artefacts at the black/white boundaries.

nattfodd: you're right about the resizing. The image was resized during export from Lightroom. Any tips on better ways to resize the image?

@crahan: this really sucks, but Lightroom always does this. I've had to resort to using photoshop for this simple task...

@nattfodd: Not only resizing can cause artefacts, but also contrast enhancements. Pixels get new values and new values mean interpolation which can result in artefacts. Both Photoshop and Lightroom are Adobe products. If I'm not mistaken, Photoshop allows to choose the algo for the interpolation (resizing) but I don't know about curve changes (contrast).

@Jan: I agree about contrast enhancements possibly causing artefacts, but there aren't any in the full size picture, so in this case the resize action was indeed the culprit.

I guess I am not excited about playing with guns. I find the just black and white does not create any interest. I see the white and then the black and there is nothing else to see. I'm done.

@nick: thanks for your comment. Unfortunately we have to do the assignments our photography class gives us and that includes a full black silhouet on a white background.

I guess I am not critiquing how you did the assignment, but the image. As a black and white image I do not find it holds my attention.

This is very "James Bond"-ish. It's interesting, but it seems to be missing something.
