The subject is very sharp. Good definition. That`s like me. The light on him create volume
But the final result don`t like me completle because several things. I think that the horizont is a little inclined and the B&W conversion hasn't been quite fine. There are no textures in the water.
I like to see the end of the sharp in the ground and, other wise, I'd change the composition with the principal subject in the right side.

Interesting shot. The horizon could be straight, the subject in the middle doesn't excite me. The tonal qual8ity is excellent.

I think I would try and work a little with the contrast of the backgrouns. Seems a bit flat.

What I like about your pic is that the person has highest contrast levels, so my eye wanders to the subject. But there is not enough other interesting things in the pic to please me (yet).

An idea might be to work on the B&W conversion and to keep the light on the person, while the sea gets darker (and maybe gets more texture?).

A sraight horizon might be a good idea as well. And the person is a little bit too close to the center of the image, I think.

The subject isn't strong enough to pull this one out. The light isn't particularly exciting - not terrible - not great. The comp. is kind of boring with the subject too centered.

Very nice shot. There is just something about the mouth that makes my eye want to go there. Perhaps making the mouth a little darker?

Nice image. Perhaps I would work a little on the saturation of the tone. Personally a would prefer a little less sepia. Also I think a little more contrast would be nice as well.

I like the old feel to this but as others point out there could be more contrast and range of tones in this image. It's a bit too muddy to my eye.

This is a great shot - yeah, it needs a little cleaning up, but still a strong and good photo.

Very nice shot!! The black really sets off the child's face nicely. The image is overall just a bit flat, I would like to see a little more work in curves to pull up some contrast and boost the midtones some. This might pull more interest to the face.

I agree with everything Beamer said (which may not be much of a help since I have added nothing - except to emphasize his viewpoint).

Yes perhaps a little more contrast would be nice. The composition is perfect though and the subject makes for a very interesting shot.

Lovely light and great job of framing - super subject and the colors are good - yes, a little more contrast would provide some snap.

A little update, another version of this image was my first sale in stock photography! (Hooray!) Not only that, but a day later, the same image had a second sale! Yay!!!

I think the light really brings out the texture and the contrast. Looks like a painting.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I hade a good time at a local botanical garden last weekend. This was one of my favorites (the plant was taller than me, with huge leaves).

One question. Couldn't you sharpen a bit more?

I saw the Edward Weston show at the Getty a couple of months ago and it made me with we didn't have software tools like "sharpen". As freeing and fun as the digital photography/photoshop thing is, I often think we over think/over process...

This is quite lovely just like it is, needs only be printed and hung on a wall...

Thanks rvercesi and Beamer. I tend to agree with you, Beamer, as sharpening this image more tends to reduce its ethereal quality. The undulations call for this treatment IMHO.

Was this shot taken before they were beamed up, or after the aliens returned them back to earth? :)

Dodged and hand bleached then sepia toned.

To be honest I don't like that the background is so white. It makes it look like a cut out. Maybe adding some vintage elements would make it a little more interesting.

This photo makes me want to break out my old Duran Duran albums. :)
