I agree about the cropping although, I'd probably crop the top, to give the image a little bit of a dark look.

i like it as it is, the nicely highlighted guy in the right middle of the image works very good for me, the lines are forcing my eye to him.

Agree with cropping the bottom -- I love the texture of the stairs at the top. The bottom is so dark that I find it draws my eye away from the man in the image. Even so, it's very powerful.

A good photo indeed, David. I like the light and the detail on the figure itself, however the beam of light around it looks a bit too artificial to me. I would rather darken the stairs next and just over the man's shoulder a little bit.

High marks for the mood and subject of this image. I believe it should have a tighter crop by about 20% with the head moving down quite a bit and then slightly to the right (perhaps similar, but more specific to the point others have made above about cropping the bottom.) The "lighting" looks contrived and overdone, especially the area along the stair side of his head and arm. The overdone lighting looks particularly obvious when viewing the thumbnail.

Very strong image. Almost belongs under the topic "a shot with a story" and I'm sure its a sad story. The lighting for me, is perfect. I love it.

Like others already mentioned, a crop in the top, or bottom but..... this scene is so beautiful....

Great lighting and color tones.
I would have cropped maybe a little tighter especially at the bottom so the old man wouldn't be in the middle.
