I love it. The only disappointment is the small bit of green flare in the bottom left. Great Shot!!

I've been trying out your technique for the past week Ashley - how long was your exposure time? I love the vivid colors!
cashleym (Ashley Tanner) said 1 year ago:
Sher, I am glad you are trying it out. I hope you get the result you are looking for! My exposure time was 30 seconds. I just kept moving the camera the whole time while my husband drove. That is all there is to it!

Thanks for the comment! I agree with the cropping idea, I think I will have to try that.

it is not sharp :)

I agree with the first comment. The image looks great, but I would remove the dark left side. I think it breaks the magic of the lights. Other then that small detail I love it!

I love how the streaks of the cars tell a story to me, looks like someone made that right turn and decided that wasn't what they wanted at all.

great colors... but the scene is to boring for me...

This is very nice. The smoothness and vibrancy of the colors are terrific, and the flag tells us there was a good breeze blowing. The moon is odd - I can't quite figure out what is going on with that; whether it was from blurring, processing, or atmosphere. The flag pole could also have been straight, but I don't really find that too disturbing; and it doesn't detract from the overall image for me.
taikrixel (thomas mueller) added a critique 1 year ago:
beautiful moody image and the composition works well, but why you had cropped the flagpole?
cashleym (Ashley Tanner) said 1 year ago:
I actually began taking the shot not thinking about how it would turn out. And I didn't have too much time. So honestly I just didn't think about some of the details with the pole i.e. straightening it, getting more of the pole in the image, etc... Maybe I will try and set up the shot again sometime! Thanks for the comments!
psychodudu (Andrew Parker) added a critique 1 year ago:
I think the flagpole is the key to this image, and I wonder if you could have straightened it without losing anything of the feel of the image. The movement is however, the weakest part of this imho. I'm really not sure the movement is enough, it's the idea I'm most in love with though, and I think that's what carries it through in the end.

This is fantastic. I love the blur of the flag and the ever so slightly tilt to the pole does not bother me at all as it may the others. Was this during an eclipse of some sort? The moon does have something going on with it, which gives this more interest for me.

Very nice shoot ! Colors are great. There's perhaps a lake of sharpness (I can't read the text on the building). But it's really good

Great colors, good one Ashley !!
uncommondepth (Roberta Murray) added a critique 1 year ago:
Awesome colors. As Sylvain mentioned the image is a bit soft. I might have been tempted to clone out the lights in the bottom half as well. But the color is so intense that it dominates the image, making the other points just minor complaints.
Naimi (Naimi Grondin) added a critique 1 year ago:
Nice colors, a little bit dark for me on the bottom.
jodosh (Johnny Haddock) added a critique 1 year ago:
it is great, the red and white on the bottom (what I assume are cars) are fine IMO, but the earthlink corporate logo it too distracting. PS should be able to take that out just fine

The DOF is well done, colors are nice but I would have like to see more details of the chain. Also have to say that's getting harder and harder to do a good picture of a rusty chain... there is so much picture like this here !

I'm agree with Sylvain, nothing special on this one..

Sorry to say that, but I don't like it at all... I don't think that's really fit this "minimalism topic". And the traitment you did makes the colors and the hole picture really artificial...
But don't worry it's a personnal feeling, perhaps others will like it ;)
cashleym (Ashley Tanner) said 1 year ago:
Thanks for the comment! That's ok you don't like it, I don't expect everyone to like it :) I actually hardly touched the colors in photoshop, these just how they came out. But I did do some adjustments in the glow around the stems and the petals being slightly translucent. I just wanted to try something different! Thanks for your thoughts!

what is this strange concept traitment...?
hum...
this is different, for sure :)
mrsankey (Andrew Sankey) added a critique 1 year ago:
Im not really sure I like the photoshop work you did. It looks too fake. I also don't think that it fits in the topic very well. If you cloned out the stems so it was only the flower, it would be a lot more minimal.

Nice vivid coloring. My only critism would be that while a majority of your photo IS green, the vivid pink flower catches my eye instead - so I don't feel it fits well in this category. Otherwise, I think the composition is good, the detail of the flower is very nice and the colors are wonderful.
Thanks for your comment! I was actually shooting lights on the freeway. I moved the camera in a pattern (sort of like a figure eight) as we drove. I was trying it out for fun, and ended up liking the result.
