On my monitor this looks rather blown out. On the other hand, perhaps the loss of highlight detail is entwined with the artistic goals of the image.
The pose, focus and composition is wonderful.
While I think this is one of the least minimalistic images on the planet (based on the conventional art taxonomies), I'm curious to hear why the photographer thinks this is a minimalist image.
My whining about the photo's classification is mostly irrelevant because this photo has tremendous commercial and artistic appeal. It is a great example of realism and simplicity.

On my calibrated screen, it's good just High key with very little blown area.
Beautiful shot

Jason -
In my humble opinion, this is probably the best Work/photograph I have seen of yours. It is absolutely beautiful.
I also agree it doesn't fit the topic. I think "Portrait Of a Person" would be a much better choice.
Really excellent work.

Thanks all for your comments. I appreciate your
Now Willie I didn't expect the topic to get challenged, but here is my rationale:) I thought it fit minimalistic (I just read the topic description about small portion of image space and I can see I violate that some, but looking through the featured there are plenty that take a similar portion of the image space). But someone on here with initials VT:) said my other image of a boat wasn't minimalistic because there were so many shades of color (now I think it fit the written description rather well) so I was playing with this image and to me it fits minimalism because the subject is my niece and there is nothing else in the photo. And how her shirt blends into the background just really makes the photo her and nothing else.

Wow thanks Sher. Now with another vote to move it, if I get one more... I think I will.

Very beautiful shot. I like the lighting you did here. It's very sharp and in focus. Good work.

It is indeed a lovely high key portrait. The composition is perfect and the concentration on her is so good that we can't even tell what it is that she is concentrating on! A beautiful subject and an excellent presentation.

Thanks Anna and Ron. I appreciate the feedback.

Oh man, she looks sweet! Adorable, really :) It can be minimalistic because of the relative small space she takes in this picture, though you could have strongened the effect by adding some white space on the left and on top (just open a new document in photoshop which is bigger than the picture, copy/paste end blur the spots that doesn't fit the white). But I love the picture the way it is now :)

Thanks Soyrosa. That's a good thought. I could set it to a neutral since around her isn't blown out either. Thanks!

It's a beautiful portrait of your niece. Nothing to be critical of from my point of view. Nice work Jason!
