It is indeed HDR, good eye. The blur was a product of the blending, but it left it to emphasize the solitary and calmness.
AntoineB (Antoine BARBOT) added a critique 1 year ago:
nice one, stones are too important in my advice
Pi-Production (Eric Rousset) added a critique 1 year ago:
Nice HDR, maybe without blur it will be better.(Personal Advice)
byutanner (Jason Tanner) added a critique 1 year ago:
Yeah the bit of blur around him grabbed me immediately rather than the subject. But good composition.

too much gray for me
nice idea
prometheus (Thomas) added a critique 1 year ago:
I would prefer the picture more space in the direction of the view of the person, the person 1/3 of the right could make it with more tension.
And it needs a lot more of contrast
chromaticmelody (Dhiren Bhatia) said 1 year ago:
All very good comments, thank you. On my copy I have fixed the contrast to decent levels. As for the view that is a very good point, I have another image where the subject is facing straight out, I will try to make that one work.
Sher (Sher Hilliard) added a critique 1 year ago:
I agree with the others - a bit dark. Having the subject more to the left bottom with more of his view to the right. Maybe a bit more detail of his head as well - it almost begins to blend in with the clouds above. The setting and the idea are great.
byutanner (Jason Tanner) added a critique 1 year ago:
I don't mind the darker exposure for the theme. I'd crop some of the top and put the person to the left to see the nothing he's seeing... Good image though.

i like it very much. because of the play with the colours, the image looks symmetric. good job!
byutanner (Jason Tanner) added a critique 1 year ago:
Great lines in your photo. I really like it. The lighting is well done. Good capture
willie_901 (william) added a critique 1 year ago:
I agree, the lines give this a strong geometric look. I'm curious to know if the color cast resembles what you remember from the shoot.
schupin (Sylvain chupin) said 1 year ago:
Thanks a lot for your comments! But Willie, I'm sorry for my poor english but I don't understand want you mean by "the color cast resembles what you remember from the shoot"
kamaki (Christophe) added a critique 1 year ago:
Great shoot. I like the colors. A justified featured picture !

Wow !
Really great !
byutanner (Jason Tanner) added a critique 1 year ago:
Definitely one of the most interesting in Symmetry that I've seen. Great job!
JENRIKS (Jens & Erik) said 1 year ago:
Thank you all again! Symmetry is on of our most popular topics when taking photos and it lies so much beauty and peace in symmetric photos...
boughey (Adrian Boughey) added a critique 1 year ago:
I actually think the post-processing employed in this image works very well; it really makes the most of the metallic material of the walls.
birba (Roberto Pagani) added a critique 1 year ago:

Great photo - I agree with everyone else. Nice composition, nice work!
byutanner (Jason Tanner) added a critique 1 year ago:
Yeah it creates a great sense of drama
Laurie (Laurie) added a critique 1 year ago:
Nicely done. The sky may be a tad unnatural looking, but I still really like the dramatic flavor you achieved.
Alex (Alexander Domakhin) added a critique 1 year ago:
Interesting shot. Good tone
bokeh-junior (Ed Simons) added a critique 1 year ago:
I would like to see some motion in those sails. That would improve the shot.

You caught the fragility of new life here, to say the least! I like the soft focus with the exception of the head.
byutanner (Jason Tanner) added a critique 1 year ago:
I really like it, but I agree I wish the closer bird's head was in focus.
Pi-Production (Eric Rousset) added a critique 1 year ago:
Did u take behind a window ? Because it's look dirty on the top of ur pic..
taikrixel (thomas mueller) said 1 year ago:
yes the szenerie was behind a window.

Interesting. I like it. You can tell what it is (and by itself isn't interesting) but it still makes you think.
aldamir (di Carlo Darsa sandro) added a critique 1 year ago:
nice black and white
a don't realy like this crop
willie_901 (william) added a critique 1 year ago:
The shadow patterns are interesting, but there's something unsatisfying about the composition.
chromaticmelody (Dhiren Bhatia) said 1 year ago:
excellent, thank you for the comments. I was just trying to make this shot work and I realize things that I wouldn't have on my own. This place is great for that.

really nice mood and composition - it's funny because the eye is going from right to left, really well done - i like the reflection in the water too !! great work
byutanner (Jason Tanner) said 1 year ago:
Thanks Jean. The water I didn't even notice until after the shot so it was a nice bonus:)
willie_901 (william) added a critique 1 year ago:
I want to walk to the left and re-shoot this so the telephone pole is way to the right or even out of the frame.
byutanner (Jason Tanner) said 1 year ago:
I debate cropping it to put the red light further to the right. I shot this in the car at 6 am as we were waiting for the light to change and then we moved. I would have liked to have shot the area more, but didn't have time to get back.

@byutanner
I don't think so, but it's close enough.
methan (András Németh) said 1 year ago:
superb shot, love this one.
do you speak hungarian, or did they speak english, that you understood them?
boughey (Adrian Boughey) said 1 year ago:
haha no I do not speak Hungarian, only köszönöm, igen, and nem. My brother-in-law studies in Budapest so he has a better idea, but sometimes you can just tell when people are not happy about something. Maybe they were saying something like...'why do these stupid english tourists find our hats so funny?' ;o)

Good image and good thought. The one thing I'd point out is focusing on one rather than a cluster would be a more striking subject IMO, but good job.
Paulforrester (Paul Forrester) added a critique 1 year ago:
i like it- Jason has a point-but still a lovely shot-great stuff Sher
Sher (Sher Hilliard) said 1 year ago:
Thanks Jason and Paul. I did play around with focusing on an individual one as well. Couldn't quite get the focus I wanted. I'll keep trying though - I appreciate the encouragement!
These are Red Maple seed pods - When I was a kid, we called them "helicopters"!

Wonderful colors!
Is that hdr ? There's seems to be a kind of glow around the guy ? It's a great picture for this theme. But I'll probably have choose to try to show a little more water.
