Nice macro but a bit too saturated for me...
andresalegria added a critique 9 months ago:
wonderful! i like the saturation - it adds to the intensity.
jvgphoto (jon van gilder) added a critique 8 months ago:
Just great work! Really like what you have done with the saturation - this really grabs the viewer - powerful shot.
Best,
Jon

Great photo, but I would have cropped it on the left. Either just cut off the ear, or even go as far as cutting just left of the eyelashes. The left side of the picture has too little interest to offer, given the superb right side. The ear is distracting for me.

Good composition and post-processing.
The shadow across the lemon is not easy to appreciate and tends to distract. I'd disagree with Clyde about cropping and suggest including a bit more negative space in the foreground.

I love the feel of this image and the processing to get it there. I'd love to know how you did this as it's something I've been trying to do myself. Would you mind a bit of info?
bradford (Bradford Levine) said 3 months ago:
Thanks to everyone for the great feedback on this one. Dana, this was quite easy actually - all I did was punch up the contrast pretty high and then increased the saturation. I also cropped the left side to really fill the frame - I didn't want any empty space on wither side of the image. Have a great weekend.

Thanks Bradford...simple technique indeed!

This was a great moment to capture but the bumblebee is not that sharp and the blurry flower in the left bottom corner is distracting. Also, the light looks flat. I've found recently that shooting at ISO 400 in bright sunlight gives good DOF and very short shutter time (1/250-1/500) which would help. This looks like an overcast day: not enough light.
HuubL added a critique 4 months ago:
I agree with Soreks. It's a nice natural composition, which could have been better with the OOF blue flower out of the background. Nevertheless, with a wing beat frequency of around 150/sec, I think the bumblebee's wings would be difficult to get really sharp.
bradford (Bradford Levine) added a critique 3 months ago:
I like this image a lot. NIce color and contrast and the bee is well-positioned. Not an easy thing to do because they move so fast. well done.

it's very nice

nothing seems to be really in focus to me

Thanks everyone for your input. In doing the pp on this one I definitely lost some of the focus on the eyes. I'm going to start over and see if I can get a better result. I might post the new version under a different topic, si if you see it please let me know if you think there's an improvement.
mooch added a critique 2 months ago:
was selective desaturation used for this image? Very powerful. Striking. You could have perhaps improved the catchlights in the eyes but I don't feel the image warrnats this. Still strong.

really intimate and striking portrait.i think it's really honest. not a typical expression too. The eye whites seem too.. white thou, was it photoshopped?
i agree with boyd the bottom part (shadow of chin) should be cropped.

Wonderful color and indeed pity about the curved horizon.
bradford (Bradford Levine) added a critique 2 months ago:
Beautiful color and light - just straighten the horizon and this would be a winner

Colors very nice. I was thinking you used a fish eye lens, so in that case no need to make it straight (actually I like it like that). Nice image but not super because it missing a main subject.

Agree with the above comments. All positive and I would like to add that the dof that you have used to keep the tree on the right in focus adds beautifully to the scene. Well done.
lightningPaul (Paul) added a critique 2 months ago:
Very good image! The mood and composition are very good. The colors are special and unique because it contains warm and cold tones.
Personally I don't see much improvement for this image, except the darker little tree(s) behind the three on a row trees is a little bit disturbing. But on the other hand I suppose that a chainsaw was not an option to use here :-)

Great landscape but I think You may do it better. I would make it more panoramic first of all! And more details on sand and woods will be also great!

I agree with Beamer. Maybe move the watermark to the bottom right, if you must have it at all.
I love playing with shots like this - close ups of faces, eyes. Reminds me of one of my shots! www.vazaar.com/user:mrsmorunion/photos/id:16025/
Well done.
