I love the idea but in my opinion, the composition is a bit off. I think a bit of straightening, and slight shift to the right would've worked much better. I actually like the inclusion of the child though. I think it adds some quirky interest.

I like the light and the idea. I wish the little person was more central.

The next time I get back to this place, I'm going to rework the shot. Thank you all for the tips. So, I think move the shot to the right to show more of the width of the stairs, try to increase the height, and get my daughter to cooperate and be slightly more centered (that'll be a challenge for a 2 and a half year old). Thanks for the ideas, all.

i like the idea it fits perfectly to the topics.
perhaps the little girl would have been much interesting in another place of the shot (ex : down the stairs)

Cool idea, but I there is too much cropped on the left side.
Beamer (Clyde Beamer) added a critique 10 months ago:
I agree with Cindy, the framing of this is not attractive. Everything else is great, exposure, focus/DoF, B&W conversion, all spot on. If you are going for a tight cropping, you need to go farther. By only cropping the tip of the spinner you create a tension/distraction that just looks like a mistake.

For this type of pic, I believe that the subject should be perfectly centered. The tones are great.

I agree with Beamer. Great light - comp is a little weak.

I must agree too, it should be perfectly centered. And perhaps slightly reduce the overlit area in the left half of the handle

I enjoy how the image lends itself to abstract thought. Those palms look like funny little people dressed in the 'grass' almost like they are doing a dance of sorts.... that's abstract I know, but it's what I think of when I look at this image. I also like the silhouette quality of the palms and how some color sneaks in the edges.

it is an interesting angle! nice!, i wonder how would have looked like in black and white!. but once again nice angle.

the palms are great but the blurred blue-rimmed thing at the bottom is very distracting.

Karin,
Wonderful shot! Super colors and strong composition. Love how road leads us up and into the photo. How much ps work (if any)was necessary for the sky? Just curious. By the way, thanks for your comment on the man sandwiched between two cars - I removed it from Street at your suggestion. I may work on it a bit more.
Best,
Jon

Thank you Jon!
Really a lot working on that sky, I admit, but mostly in Raw processing to avoid overblown white in the clouds. To see the final photoshopping you can view the image before/after in my blog: blog.uhlig.at/index.php?showimage=753 (just move the mouse over the little mouth beneath the image)

Preciosa fotografia, los azules y marrones dan vida a la escena. Impresionante. Enhorabuena. Saludos

This is very subtle, and VERY difficult to see the 'winter' aspect of it.
But it's wonderful in it's own way. Is this a stage play?
austriaka (Karin) said 10 months ago:
great mood here, very subtle and a lot to explore
Good idea, but the execution is not quite there. So - it's still interesting!
Best,
Jon
