I love the composition and the high contrast. A beautiful black and white picture.

Great black ! And white:-))

iamsmitten (Julio Kubika) added a critique 6 months ago:

Terrific!!! I like the grip of b/w and, at the same time, the serenity of the animal

anemix (John Anderson) added a critique 5 months ago:

I love the zebra in snow... (would really like to see a zebra against a black background). this was probably difficult to meter but I'd like to see some clarity in the eyes with a little dodging if possible.

i don't know exactly what i see but i know i like it

Beamer (Clyde Beamer) added a critique 9 months ago:

This is very nice. I wish the streaks weren't so jagged. I wonder if there is any way to smooth them out without ruining the image??? The sky and the foreground water are great, wouldn't want to disturb them.

that is a spectacular landscape.
i think it might be more powerful by removing some of the sky, or some of the foreground (but not both).

jvgphoto (jon van gilder) added a critique 10 months ago:

Out of this world - amazing capture! Thanks for sharing.

Nick (Nick) added a critique 10 months ago:

I usually like people in landscapes, but I feel this would be better without the person. The space would be emptier.

crahan (Thomas Bouve) added a critique 10 months ago:

The sky is amazing, the mountains have a silky feel to them and the ground adds a feeling of vastness to the image. Really spectacular components.

The only minor remark I have (if I may) is that I would have loved to see the person sitting in a sort of zen-like or meditation pose. Legs crossed for example.

That little remark aside I think the image is stunning.

Thanks you all for your comments
@ Andy, actually, that was my 24 year old sister :)
@ Pellicer, I didn't even think about putting into that topic..good idea though..I may try that.

narnold (Noah Arnold) said 8 months ago:

question: Should I deleate this photo since I reposted this in a topic better suited for this photo ?

Pradeep (Pradeep P) added a critique 8 months ago:

answer: You really dont have to delete, but if you had reposted the exact same file (same file name) to the other topic all your critiques (from both the topics) will be in one place and not as it is now :)

antonio (antonio) added a critique 8 months ago:

I like the moment when you frozen the image, very good, and also y like the backround..well done!!

I guess I don't understand the comments about the noise. I love this shot. Its like one of those types of photos that fit nicely in a "posh" style frame and belongs in a set (of 2 or 3 photos) on a nice sitting room wall.

I love how the match stick fades into nothing. I just love it.

Pradeep (Pradeep P) said 8 months ago:

Thank you Karrie. I have got a set of images like these, will post them together one day.

shivahuja (shiv ahuja) added a critique 7 months ago:

i'm nitpicking, but if it was just a BIT sharper it would have been amazing.

Pradeep (Pradeep P) said 7 months ago:

Thanks a lot Shiv. Yeah I understand what you mean abt the sharpness...thanks :)

Interesting attempt, but the light in the upper right really distracts from the main subject.

jorgelopez (Jorge López) said 9 months ago:

May be says a lot of things of a friend that you don´t know and is impossible to know, just knowing him. For me this photo is the portrait of a friend who is always moving, travelling and looking for new things everyday. Like me he´s from Spain but he´ve been living in some countries and travelling to a lot. This is the principal reason, but I´ve more. Like the sun in the back with real light, this means my levels of friendship with him, the higher. At the end, yes, it`s a photo without preparation, technically bad, but for me with a good end and meanings, really personal, I want to say personal things about a great friend and may be nobody understand. That´s it.
May be this is the problem, too personal. I´d try to post more understanding photos.
RRRRRRR

antonio (antonio) added a critique 9 months ago:

i like the story behind the picture, and thats a very important part of photography, tell stories, not just trying to make a "pretty picture". i think it wouldve been better in black and white, maybe. but again i think is an interesting picture. well done!

lotr_n1 (Nathan Hauser) added a critique 6 months ago:

I actually really like this photograph. I feel your eyes are drawn directly to the eyes of the person. well done.

Yep, and there is nothing interesting in there :)

jvgphoto (jon van gilder) added a critique 10 months ago:

Very nicely captured. I know how difficult it is for the camera to properly expose this kind of shot. These usually look great to our eyes, but lose the magic on film. You have held on to the magic! Great work!

antonio (antonio) added a critique 10 months ago:

nice tones, and i like the dramatic sense of the picture. this kind of pictures give you a feeling when you look at them thats why i like it!!

crahan (Thomas Bouve) added a critique 10 months ago:

I get a very eerie feel from this image. A bit disturbing even (which I guess was the intention of the photographer). Well done on nailing the exposure too.

Hanssie (Hans Stellingwerf) added a critique 7 months ago:

What a powerful photo! I wish I could be the person experiencing that view. Breathtaking!

ljcbraga (Leonardo Braga) added a critique 8 months ago:

Pradeep,

I like the photo.

I would displace the focal point (the guy) away from the center, maybe upper, trying to get more dynamics.

Well done.

yumyum - nice one! i love the color!

grahambo (Graham Siebe) added a critique 9 months ago:

Nice shot. I assumed they were lemons at first glance.

I would have like just a touch more DOF to give a critical sharpness to the subject, but it's just a small quibble.

Also, there are some distracting patterns at the top of the picture. This may be a characteristic of the lens you used. You may want to consider adding a little bit of blur in post production to the 2nd row of unfocused oranges and beyond. Just a little goes a long way and make sure the transition is very soft.

crahan (Thomas Bouve) said 9 months ago:

@grahambo: thanks for the great tip. That would help this image a lot, thank you!

Myke (Michael) added a critique 9 months ago:

Really great image. Would have been better to my eyes with a tad more depth of field but still a good effort. Nice one.

Hanssie (Hans Stellingwerf) added a critique 7 months ago:

Nice and juicy shot:-)) I only would like to see some more DOF, there are too many unsharp, but I like the idea !
