Three elements that so neatly tell the story. So well done. The only thing that would improve the image to me is it seems a bit tight...as if a bit of room to breathe, so to speak, would relax the bit of tension, for me. But, really, what a wonderful image. Well done.

Good perspective, good focal point, overall... excellent.
latekelem added a critique 1 year ago:
I like the image overall, however, I would like it to be cropped somewhat wider. Feels a bit too tight for me..
However if you were trying to get rid of a bright spot, I can see why you chose to crop it this way.

Tha hands made the world. They can do the better and the worse things. Brain thinks about, and hands do things happen.
That's such a nice pic. That hando making music happen.

Yes, agree w/ Ben. Maybe just a little lower and to the right a bit and you could see both eyes a little better.
andreas (Andréas Saudemont) added a critique 1 year ago:
I would also consider shooting at the girl's eye level rather than going for low angle.
Flip (Philip) said 1 year ago:
Thanks for your comments. I was actually taking a picture of someone to the girl's left when she walked up to the door. I wish I could have taken a couple more from different perspectives.
Lindy (Lindy G) added a critique 1 year ago:
I like this even with the angle it is at .. there is so much character to this photo and love the texture of the gate but the little girl is captivating, makes you wonder what caught her attention..
Flip (Philip) said 1 year ago:
Thanks Lindy. I shot several other photos of this girl over the course of a couple days, and she brought the same intrigue to every one.

wow-where is this? well captured and a favourite!
andreas (Andréas Saudemont) said 1 year ago:
Thanks Paul! This was shot inside the Basilica-Cathedral of Marie-Reine-du-Monde, Montréal.

What an absolutely stunning interior! Your photo has captured gorgeous blues and golds. I can only imagine how sound carries through this interior space. (By the way, you've managed to keep distortions in such a large round space to a minimum, which is not always easy in this kind of shot.)

Yes, nice DOF, the bright spots in the background are a little distracting. The main subject get lost a little.
andreas (Andréas Saudemont) added a critique 1 year ago:
I might prefer this photo if it was not centered on the snail's head, by either adding or removing space on the left. There's also a small dust spot in the top-left that you might clone out.
ryanopaz (Ryan Opaz) said 1 year ago:
Andreas - Thanks I removed the dust spot on the following version of this. Missed it on the first one. Also as far as the centered subject, I so often move something off center that I wanted to try it in the middle.
taikrixel (thomas mueller) added a critique 1 year ago:
wow. breathtaking macro and i really like the lightspots behind the "eyes".
diezel99 added a critique 1 year ago:
Very cool shot, but I think I'd like to see more of the snail in focus.
Thanks everybody.
