This is wonderful. The exposure is fantastic considering you're thru a window and still lit well inside and out. Just well done.

Great composition, well done John ;)

Really good photo. I wish she weren't just dead center in the middle (I imagine there is a reason you framed it like you did), but I really like the photo. Great job.

Thanks for the comments.
byutanner, someone commented the same thing about cropping when I posted this photo on Flickr (www.flickr.com/photos/alapan/349987020/).
It's the reason why I wanted this critiqued as I was wondering what others thought. The feeling on flickr was that I shouldn't crop it which is my conclusion.

I'd like to know the reason why other than just saying it would be nice if it wasn't dead center. Not knocking your critiques and I appreciate your comments but I'm trying to figure out the point of view of others. Again it's the reason why I wanted this photograph to be critiqued is to explain why people think this photo would be better if it was cropped differently.

Very beautiful composition and nice work on lights !
I don't know why, but I think of an Hitchcock Movie when i look at that photo !

John,
I did read the post from flickr and I still wonder what it would look like, but when I say cropped I mean move to the left not the right (the opposite of what you said in flickr). But to me I want to feel like I am looking where she is (unless the feel you want is tension, but to me it is a peaceful, thoughful mood). But that is assuming you could have the same pattern of windows and see the trees out the windows or maybe if you would have been standing further to the right, but these are all big what ifs since I obviously wasn't there when you took the picture and only you know what the whole scene was. But I really love the shot crop or no crop.

Great picture. I love the composition. This is a good idea with the women in the center of the picture.

I know this place but I failed to shoot a picture as good as this one. :o)

... and I don't mind the central composition: it is very balanced.

I would like to see an example of this photo with one window section cropped off the right side of the photo (trees). I get the idea, as this woman is looking off to the left, that she is watching for someone in a car who might be coming to pick her up. Cropping the trees a bit would convey the thought of her "watching" more and to me, give more "feeling" to the photo. That said, this is a fantastic photo. I think it is fine as it is as well, it just depends on the "message" you wish for it to convey.

John, this is a wonderful capture.
It does not particularly convey the feeling of solitude IMO. I rather see it as a picture of many contrasts: organic vs. synthetic, assymmetry vs. symmetry, etc.
I also see a human being torn between those two worlds.
A wonderful photograph I wish I had taken!

I don't have to say I like the picture :) It's beautiful. Should you crop this? I don't know. I understand why some people say it, but I really like her being centered.
Though, you _could_ cut of the black bar on top of the picture. That would make the picture more panoramic, which could strengthen the idea of her being all alone in that building.

Beautiful framing. I think her position works very well - perhaps it might be better if she were off to the left but i think then you would lose some of the balance in the picture.
