Carlos - I checked out the larger version on your site. This image creates a wonderful story as does the letter included in the shot. My only regret is the large dark shadow on the ground which catches my eye first before the letter. The idea and concept are wonderful as is the story. I think this is a great find and a wonderful story.

I agree with the last comment.
Removing or toning down the shadow would draw your eye to the letter.
Wonderful creativity showing here!

I hope you will excuse in advance my odd question: is he a bronze statue?

Thank you all for your comments.
Toni, I personally would like to wish your sister all the best and a safe travel back home to your family when she is finished in Iraq.
I send out my prayers for her while she is in Iraq and safe travels.
Fabrizio, yes it is a bronze statue ;)

Very nice subject and detail. While it may have had more impact without the shadow, I also think that as it is it works well because it gives some contrast to the letter. Great find!

This photo is entitled "Love, Mom and Dad" and I hope that the letter can still be read even though I had to reduce the size of this photo for Vazaar. If need be, you can check it out on my photoblog and read it there. I feel it is a very important part of this photo and I think it should be payed close attention to for understanding the purpose of this shot and composition.
