A stray in Greece that spent most of the day in the water fishing... if he's a pet to anyone, it was this place - that fed him scraps from lunch or dinner, such as this low-light eve. I'd appreciate most critiques on how I could have done this better; send on some ideas!

Maybe bounce a little flash fill??? This is the kind of image I tend to do 2 raw conversions and the do some kind of split, this would be easy 'cause you could use th eedge of the sign as a mask line.
grahambo (Graham Siebe) added a critique 1 year ago:
You might be able to brighten this sufficiently just using curves. I would probably start by setting one point in the middle so I won't change the lower half of the histogram, then adding contrast in the gray of the dog's fur.

Congrats

If you could have gone a little bit lower and taken a vertical format, it would have shown the relationship between the dog and the place. I think the low light works wonders in capturing the mood of the place and the dog, you have done a great job capturing those.

Taken with a med format Kowa Six near Natural Bridges in Santa Cruz CA. B&W w/ Sepia added. Do digital processing - just a scan. I like how unique it is; curious what you think.
redcat77 (Agnes Milosz) said 8 months ago:
You are right - it is very unique. I love the reflection, but I am missing the water they are going to, I am missing the frame which would tell the rest of the story...
Anyway - it is very intriquing and original photo, well done!
Topher (Christopher Mueller) said 8 months ago:
I didn't even think of that... I'll upload one with a frame. Thanks!
I unfortunately can't add the water; I hope you understand. ;)

This is just really great. The blur feels musical to me... fits perfectly.
Sweetness.

This is very good...I can hear the jazz. I love the musician's head, very surreal and abstract; it fits the genre of music.

Guitarist at a cafe in Monterey CA. Would love some feedback; thanks!

I probably would square this up by cropping the bottom. Overall the image could be just a bit sharper. Maybe move the center of DoF forward a bit to his left hand.
This is a lovely capture and a great subject.
Topher (Christopher Mueller) said 1 year ago:
Ya know, I did try the square crop and it didn't feel right to me. But I might be framing it both ways. As for it being sharper - I don't think I uploaded it at the best quality - but definitely will try working with photoshop to play with DOF. Thanks Beamer.

Great capture, I like the tones. I would crop a little off the bottom but not make it square.

I agree with what Beamer said.
Personally, I like the way you caught the back lighting of the domes. Unfortunately, the picture has too many other distracting elements (the intruding building at the top right gets to me). Perhaps a tighter crop and more aggressive (or selective) curve would be good. Don't be afraid to push areas of the image to pure black.

I would go with a little less vignetting, I think...
jcniguez (José Carlos Ñíguez) added a critique 1 year ago:
Bonita y misteriosa imagen. El exceso de granulo le confiere esa atmosfera de misterio y serenidad por lo que me parece muy acertado. Las luces de las cúpulas muy compensadas. Pruebe a virarla a blanco y negro, creo que quedaria muy bien.
¡Enhorabuena! Buena foto.
palves (Pedro Alves) added a critique 1 year ago:
nice colours and composition, but i think it was better without grain, and softer.
latekelem added a critique 1 year ago:
I like the image, although I would go for more contrast, and more brightness, perhaps the vignetting is really not vey necessary here. Does not add much, while helps to lose some detail.
To put it in a nutshell, a generally nice image but a little more postprocessing would certainly help.

Thanks Brant - it was taken in Verona It. I'd tell more but I don't think I'm supposed to ;)
bslomovic (Brant Slomovic) said 1 year ago:
Haha, had a feeling this might be Italy, the wine bottles and gestures gave it away ;-) gotta love it. I for one am all for hearing the stories behind the image, so please, go for it Topher.

Nope - this one's like the LOLcats. You need to add your own caption. It's better that way.... :)

Out watching the perseids. Got bored so I caught a star trail w/ large tree in the foreground. Purple on the top left is the inevitable noise from a d70 long exposure; did what I could to get rid of it...
Beamer (Clyde Beamer) said 1 year ago:
Have you tried the d70 with the long exposure NR turned on?? I had been having pretty good luck getting rid of the "amp glow" with that. I was also out last weekend and shot a 1 hour waited 1 hour for NR and suddenly the amp glow as back big time. I think my problem was not waiting after I had just shot a 20 min. exposure. The amps didn't have a chance to cool down before starting the 1 hour. Were you shooting a long exposure just before you shot this??
Topher (Christopher Mueller) said 1 year ago:
It was a LOT worse than it looks here but obvious I worked on it. I only learned recently about the NR feature... so have yet to try that. On top of that yes I was shooting one long exposure after another while hoping for a perseid to streak by... Shot this because I was getting bored with shooting nothing but star trails... :) Thanks for the NR tip; I'll have to try it this weekend!!!!
Your typical calla lily :)
I've got a 20x30 of this - looks amazing.
