Very good.
Great warm lighting with an interesting expression on the the subject face. IMO it could have used a bit less DOF to throw the background a bit more out of focus!
Topher (Christopher Mueller) added a critique 1 year ago:
Love the colors, the DOF, and especially the framing. Very nice capture to an otherwise boring portrait. Wouldn't change anything.

Great portrait....full of expression ..I really like the composition and dof treatment...a success!

Pan left dude. He needs some lead room.

I'd agree - more specifically, anytime I take a shot where I want to show some direction or movement, there's more space in that direction. So not only would this be more pleasing to me if he wasn't so centered, but to leave some space for his gaze. Great pic & timing otherwise, very sharp and just enough contrast. Big thing about portraits for me is to capture their character; you've done that here for me.

very nice expression well captured, maybe a square crop would have be even better? I don't know really

A stray in Greece that spent most of the day in the water fishing... if he's a pet to anyone, it was this place - that fed him scraps from lunch or dinner, such as this low-light eve. I'd appreciate most critiques on how I could have done this better; send on some ideas!

Maybe bounce a little flash fill??? This is the kind of image I tend to do 2 raw conversions and the do some kind of split, this would be easy 'cause you could use th eedge of the sign as a mask line.
grahambo (Graham Siebe) added a critique 1 year ago:
You might be able to brighten this sufficiently just using curves. I would probably start by setting one point in the middle so I won't change the lower half of the histogram, then adding contrast in the gray of the dog's fur.

Congrats

If you could have gone a little bit lower and taken a vertical format, it would have shown the relationship between the dog and the place. I think the low light works wonders in capturing the mood of the place and the dog, you have done a great job capturing those.

Taken with a med format Kowa Six near Natural Bridges in Santa Cruz CA. B&W w/ Sepia added. Do digital processing - just a scan. I like how unique it is; curious what you think.
redcat77 (Agnes Milosz) said 8 months ago:
You are right - it is very unique. I love the reflection, but I am missing the water they are going to, I am missing the frame which would tell the rest of the story...
Anyway - it is very intriquing and original photo, well done!
Topher (Christopher Mueller) said 8 months ago:
I didn't even think of that... I'll upload one with a frame. Thanks!
I unfortunately can't add the water; I hope you understand. ;)

Great shot! I find that I focus on the blur more than the shoes in the front.

The colours and the textures work very nicely together. I have no complaints. Fits the topic well.
Topher (Christopher Mueller) added a critique 1 year ago:
Really nice! I'd like to see the focus further down in the line a little... might prefer it, don't know. That would lead me into the picture some more. Beautiful capture.

Very nice capture! The shoes in the foreground really pop, and that's the idea, i think with this shot. I might have cropped a little also.
Best,
Jon

very nice and very cute. the top of the cats head seems a little over exposed-it would have been nicer to see the definition of the cats head-but still a nice capture!

Thank you for your comments!
Topher (Christopher Mueller) added a critique 1 year ago:
I'd love to see more contrast to bring out her freckles and the cat's stripes - but that would "expose the overexposure" even more. If the direction of the lighting for the cat's head could have been controlled, could have maybe avoided that. Fantastic composition and 11 out of 10 on the cute scale :)
jvgphoto (jon van gilder) added a critique 8 months ago:
Well, it's cute enough - that's a given, I guess. I still think this could be saved with some PS. Nice capture!
Cheers,
Jon

I do love musician shots like this. Nicely done in black and white too.
Topher (Christopher Mueller) added a critique 1 year ago:
I really would prefer to see his left hand clearly - that's all I would offer for this fantastic capture. It's too bad the background steals from the bow on the top - might have opted to step a little to his left for a better view, but I really like the angle that you've caught him at. Nice!

This is very good...I can hear the jazz. I love the musician's head, very surreal and abstract; it fits the genre of music.
